margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Canadian government announced this week its plans to donate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pm.gc.ca\/en\/news\/backgrounders\/2024\/09\/24\/canada-announces-over-200-million-initiatives-79th-session-united\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">another $200 million<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to advance \u201ccomprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights\u201d in Africa. $48 million of this funding will go directly to International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) over several years, which promises to use the money in \u201cdelivering comprehensive sexuality education to young people, [and] providing access to person-centred safe and legal abortion care, including post-abortion care.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IPPF has been the subject of at least one investigation and has had a long term relationship with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ippf.org\/about-us\/member-associations\/china\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China Family Planning Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2009, then-director-general of IPPF, Gill Greer, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/womens-rights-group-calls-for-investigation-of-international-planned-parenthood\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">praised<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> China\u2019s coercive \u201cpopulation control policy\u201d as \u201cvery conducive to China\u2019s development in various aspects such as economy, education and health care services.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/african-activist-condemns-us-target-nations-abortion\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Obianuju Ekeocha<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Nigerian born pro-life activist, Catholic founder of Culture of Life Africa, biomedical scientist, and author of the 2018 book, &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Target Africa: Ideological Neocolonialism in the Twenty-First Century,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is particularly concerned about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/canadas-trudeau-administration-pushes-abortion-tool-end-poverty\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada&#8217;s<\/span><\/a> trajectory in providing this funding.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ekeocha has urged Canadians to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CatholicRegistr\/status\/971952483990990848\/photo\/1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stop funding feminist ideological colonization<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and using its resources in \u201cpersuading people across <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/global-affairs\/news\/2023\/06\/minister-sajjan-announces-new-initiative-to-advance-sexual-and-reproductive-health-and-rights-in-the-global-south.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Africa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to accept abortion.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PNng4A4330Q?si=hwTh7LWoKhx58exs\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In November 2017, Ekeocha stated at a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicregister.org\/item\/26355-african-pro-life-advocate-urges-canadians-to-stop-funding-ideological-colonization?platform=hootsuite\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">British conference<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that \u201ceverybody\u2019s talking about racism and white supremacy,\u201d and called it &#8220;painful&#8221; to see \u201cideological supremacy that is sanctioned and acceptable and philanthropic racism that is admired and applauded.\u201d She added, \u201cI think they are trying to solve poverty and end poverty by eradicating the poor themselves or by stopping them from having another generation of children.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a 2024 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/macdonaldlaurier.ca\/memo-to-canada-talk-less-and-listen-more-to-the-rest-of-the-world-david-mulroney-and-obianuju-ekeocha-in-the-national-post\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Macdonald-Laurier Institute article<\/span><\/a> (<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">subtitled \u201cCanadians show up to lecture, not listen, as evidenced by the Trudeau government&#8217;s foreign policy and coercive &#8216;feminist&#8217; aid\u201d), Ekeocha and a colleague reminded Canadian policy makers that \u201cRespectful consultation should characterize Canada\u2019s large aid program in Africa. People in most African countries profess respect for the sanctity of life and the primacy of the family, something confirmed by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2023\/06\/20\/support-for-legal-abortion-is-widespread-in-many-countries-especially-in-europe\/__;!!MtWvt2UVEQ!ECjZ2KO7oLvzsqwNghiukyVNTa8ytluD-889gzM6-FTe1P_vVizhBzx97b4tSqXcdLlz4ms3Lg4dCf4y_ZO07M0rHhOy-CadvQ%24\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">opinion polls<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, public commentary and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/time.com\/6173229\/countries-abortion-illegal-restrictions\/__;!!MtWvt2UVEQ!ECjZ2KO7oLvzsqwNghiukyVNTa8ytluD-889gzM6-FTe1P_vVizhBzx97b4tSqXcdLlz4ms3Lg4dCf4y_ZO07M0rHhPpiwD4Tw%24\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">legislation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite this, Canada prefers to spend resources convincing Africans to accept the intentional killing of preborn children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\"><a
