A coalition of 27 pro-life organizations delivered a letter<\/a> August 22 to House Speaker Mike Johnson, calling on Congress to protect pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) from pro-abortion legislation.<\/p>\n

The letter was organized by the Stanton Public Policy Center, a women’s advocacy and educational group based in Washington, D.C., and stated that the country’s more than 2,700 PRCs have provided nearly $367.9 million worth of services and material goods to more than 16 million clients \u2014 and 97% of those served reported having a positive experience. PRCs offer women and families tangible help in the form of formula, food, diapers, baby clothes, car seats, furniture, prenatal care, parenting classes, housing assistance, and much more.<\/p>\n

Despite the good these facilities do, pro-abortion lawmakers<\/a> nationwide have sought to restrict<\/a>, silence<\/a>, or defund<\/a> the centers<\/a>, because they don’t commit or refer for abortions. The letter writers warn that unless Congress takes steps to protect these clinics, they will remain in danger of being further restricted by pro-abortion legislation.<\/p>\n

“Speaker Johnson, it is critical in a post-Roe America we offer women facing unexpected pregnancies professional medical care, tangible resources, practical and emotional support, and women’s wellness care,” the letter said. “Tragically, Vice-President Harris has chosen to attack these women-centric life-affirming centers. As California’s Attorney General, she investigated and harassed pregnancy resource centers and spearheaded legislation that would require them to refer clients for abortions. It is clear, if Kamala Harris became President, her Administration would do all in their power to close or restrict pregnancy resource centers and life-affirming clinics.”<\/p>\n

The writers then asked, “Speaker Johnson, we are asking for you, and pro-life members of Congress, to ensure no anti-woman federal legislation would be passed which restricts or attempts to shut down pregnancy resource centers and life-affirming women’s clinics.”<\/p>\n

Every woman who walks through the doors of these life-affirming centers and clinics is treated with dignity and equality regardless of their race, political views, religion, educational background or their economic situation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaker Johnson, we are calling for your leadership and all pro-life members of Congress, to ensure these\u00a0 life-affirming women’s centers are protected from the attacks of Vice-President Harris and Governor Walz.<\/em><\/p>\n

Regardless of one’s position on abortion, it is critical our nation stands with women who are facing unexpected pregnancies as we offer true choices and support.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pregnancy resource centers aren’t just being attacked at a legislative level; many have also been vandalized in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/em>. The latest attack happened just hours after this letter was delivered to Congress, as vandals spray painted and cemented the doors<\/a> of a Chicago PRC just as the Democratic National Convention was drawing to a close in the city.<\/p>\n
