Chip Roy asked him if he thought it was &#8220;appropriate&#8221; for Paulette Harlow, &#8220;a 75-year-old woman who is praying at a clinic in D.C. to be put in prison for two years for that activity,&#8221; allegedly in violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.<\/p>\n<p>Wray said he could not answer because he didn&#8217;t know the details of the case, which Roy appeared to find shocking.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since I&#8217;m not familiar with the case, I don&#8217;t want to start weighing in because I don&#8217;t know all the facts,&#8221; he claimed. &#8220;But what I can tell you is that when it comes to FACE Act enforcement and abortion-related violent extremism, I think one of the things that gets lost \u2014 and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify it \u2014 is that really since the Dobbs decision, actually more of our abortion-related violent extremism investigations have focused on violence against pro-life facilities as opposed to the other way around.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: FBI Dir Christopher Wray answers questions from Rep Roy about the FBI\u2019s complicity in jailing prolifer Paulette Harlow. There\u2019s been a significant amount of efforts in targeting of people who are pro-lifers, who go to clinics, and that they\u2019ve been prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/258404\/fbi-director-denies-targeting-pro-life-activists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Catholic News Agency<\/a>, in 2022, 26 pro-lifers were sentenced under the FACE Act compared with just two in 2021. And only <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/crt\/recent-cases-violence-against-reproductive-health-care-providers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">four pro-abortion activists<\/a> have been charged with violating the FACE Act since 2022 \u2014 despite Wray&#8217;s 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fbi-70-threats-violence-pro-lifers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> that 75% of abortion-related threats and violence since Dobbs have been carried out <em>against<\/em> pro-lifers.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/24\/christopher-wray-says-fbi-does-not-target-peaceful-pro-lifers-the-stats-prove-otherwise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Federalist<\/a>, only five of the 60 cases brought by the Biden administration regarding FACE Act violations have been focused on pro-abortion violence. The other 55 cases have been against pro-lifers.<\/p>\n<p>The FACE Act took effect in 1994, and by January 2021 (when Biden took office as president), there had been fewer than 100 FACE Act prosecutions. Roy said in <a href=\"https:\/\/first-heritage-foundation.s3.amazonaws.com\/live_files\/2023\/04\/Defund-Face-Act-Appropriations-Letter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023<\/a> that it\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2023\/02\/22\/biden-doj-charges-eight-more-pro-life-activists-with-violating-face-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">had never<\/a> been used to indict individuals related to an attack on a pro-life pregnancy center or house of worship&#8221; unit Biden took office. Then the Biden administration began prosecuting people under the FACE Act, accounting for nearly 25% of all FACE Act prosecutions since the law took effect.<\/p>\n<p>Since the <em>Dobbs<\/em> decision was leaked in May of 2022, at least <a href=\"https:\/\/catholicvote.org\/pregnancy-center-attack-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">90<\/a> violent attacks have reportedly been carried out against pro-life organizations and churches, but it is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/four-pro-life-activists-sentenced-tennessee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pro-lifers<\/a> who are now facing <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/sentencing-continues-four-pro-life-activists-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prison time<\/a> for peaceful protest at or inside abortion facilities \u2014\u00a0including <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/great-grandmother-federal-prison-god-called-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harlow<\/a>, who was sentenced to 24 months in prison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/actnow.io\/ARQQhk1\"><b><i>The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail for protesting the killing of preborn children.
