Two years ago, flight attendant Diana Giraldo shared<\/a> that she had assisted a mother during her unexpected labor on an overnight flight from Denver to Orlando. Now that mother is speaking out for the first time in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shakeria Sullivan was 27 years old, seven months pregnant, and worried she was going into labor on January 16, 2022, as she flew from Denver to Orlando, where she was moving to be closer to her mother. She called for assistance \u2014 and Giraldo, the lead flight attendant, was there to help.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was having contractions and it woke me out of my sleep,\u201d Sullivan told PEOPLE. \u201cI had to call for the flight attendant. And that\u2019s when everything started happening so fast<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
