Did you know that nearly 60%<\/a> of college-aged people do not know that Planned Parenthood does abortions? This is a startling statistic when we consider the high abortion rates<\/a> among 18- to 24-year-olds. To counteract this lack of information among the college crowd, Students for Life of America recently launched a sprint through eight colleges to spread awareness.<\/p>\n

The initiative is called the Planned Parenthood Project<\/a>, and it achieves its objective of raising awareness about the number of abortions that Planned Parenthood commits – and the fact that the organization offers them at all – by erecting 915 pink crosses on each college campus to represent the 915 lives that Planned Parenthood is responsible for taking\u00a0each day\u00a0<\/em>in the United States. The crosses are “Planned Parenthood pink,” an eye-catching color that, combined with the sheer number, is sure to draw the attention of every student on campus. Great amounts of awareness will spread as a result of this audacious undertaking.<\/p>\n

\"PPPfb1\"<\/a>The two-week bus tour launched this past Monday, April 15. The itinerary is as follows:<\/p>\n

Kristan Hawkins described the purpose of the Planned Parenthood Project in the following statement:<\/p>\n

According to our research,\u00a059 percent of 18-24 year olds do not know<\/a>\u00a0that Planned Parenthood commits abortions, but that their negativity towards the abortion Goliath increases when they find out the truth. We need to expose the fact that Planned Parenthood is the number one abortion business in the United States, performing almost 335,000 abortions annually.<\/p>\n

While receiving $542 million in taxpayer funding, Planned Parenthood made over $150 million in revenue from the 333,965 abortions they performed in just the 2011-2012 fiscal year alone. They are an abortion business, plain and simple. The sad truth is that 44 percent of abortions are performed on women 18-24 years old, so Planned Parenthood has a financial interest in marketing to their best customers.\u00a0Planned Parenthood targets students\u00a0<\/a>with almost 80 percent of their facilities located within 5 miles of a college or university campus. We need to reach these students and inform them of Planned Parenthood\u2019s dirty practices before Planned Parenthood can lure them in.<\/p>\n

With the\u00a0late-term abortionist\/infant serial killer Kermit Gosnell trial<\/a>\u00a0happening right now in Philadelphia, \u2018The Planned Parenthood Project\u2019 is especially relevant. The gruesome crimes of Gosnell are not an isolated incident, Planned Parenthood, which holds itself up as a clean, safe, women-friendly environment, engages in the same disgusting practices.<\/p>\n

Last week a\u00a0Planned Parenthood in Delaware<\/a>\u00a0that has sent 5 women to the emergency room since January had to stop doing abortions because of unsafe and unsanitary conditions similar to the ones found at Gosnell\u2019s abortion mill. One nurse said of the operating room, \u201cIt\u2019s not washed down, it\u2019s not even cleaned off. It has bloody drainage on it.\u201d She also said patients \u201ccould be at risk of getting hepatitis, even AIDS.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, a\u00a0Planned Parenthood official from Florida testified<\/a>\u00a0that a baby born alive during an abortion should be allowed to be killed, saying, \u201cWe believe that any decision that\u2019s made should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician.\u201d Gosnell routinely killed babies born alive after an abortion \u2013 often by cutting their spinal cords.\u00a0 Apparently that\u2019s a decision Planned Parenthood supports a physician like Gosnell making.<\/p>\n

In 2008, a\u00a0New Jersey Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u00a0nurse told me to my face that with an abortion after 22 weeks, the baby is delivered and can survive an abortion: \u201cIt does happen, where it\u2019s still alive\u2026but it wouldn\u2019t be able to survive on its own, so eventually the baby does die.\u201d Again, Planned Parenthood knows and supports abortions that result in babies born alive but left to die, as happened in Gosnell\u2019s facility.<\/p>\n
