On June 12, Live Action held a press conference<\/a> on the grounds of the United States Capitol to commemorate the second anniversary of the overturning of <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i> and to call for congressional action to recognize the right to life guaranteed to every American \u2014 including the preborn \u2014\u00a0under the 14th Amendment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was emceed by <\/span>Christina Bennett<\/span><\/a>, Live Action\u2019s news correspondent. Speakers included OB-GYN and former abortionist <\/span>Dr. John Bruchalski<\/span><\/a>, Representative <\/span>Doug Lamborn<\/span><\/a> (R-Colo.), Representative <\/span>Alex Mooney<\/span><\/a> (R-W.Va.), Ethics and Public Policy Center fellow and National Review contributing writer <\/span>Alexandra DeSanctis<\/span><\/a>, Human Coalition\u2019s Southeast Regional Director of Strategic Partnerships <\/span>Julie Scott Emmons<\/span><\/a>, Representative <\/span>Bob Good<\/span><\/a> (R-Va.), Students for Life of America Student Leader Liz Mooney, Sidewalk Advocates for Life\u2019s President and CEO <\/span>Lauren Muzyka<\/span><\/a>, Concerned Women for America\u2019s Executive Vice President <\/span>Annabelle Rutledge<\/span><\/a>, and Americans United for Life CEO <\/span>John Mize<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Overturning <\/b>Roe<\/i><\/b> was just the beginning<\/b><\/p>\n

Many speakers decried the Supreme Court\u2019s decision in <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i> and applauded the <\/span>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/span><\/i> decision which overturned it in June of 2022. Rep. Good said the Supreme Court showed \u201ccourage\u201d in the <\/span>Dobbs<\/span><\/i> decision, adding:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are 63 million fewer Americans with us today \u2013 63 million fewer teachers, doctors, medical practitioners, engineers, pastors, [and] missionaries\u2026 in our culture and our society. Sixty-three million fewer people \u2026 contributing to our economy, making us better, stronger. Inventing things, creating things, building things, fixing things. They are not in our country today because of the terrible <\/span><\/i>Roe vs. Wade<\/span> decision[.]<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Several speakers pointed out that, even in this post-<\/span>Roe<\/span><\/i> era, children are still being brutally killed by abortion in unfathomable numbers. \u201cThe horrific reality is that, even after the fall of <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i>, 2,800 babies are killed in the womb by abortion every day in America,\u201d Christina Bennett stated. \u201cThat is 117 precious souls every hour, almost two children per minute killed in our nation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
