One Illinois family is <\/span>celebrating<\/span><\/a> a very special homecoming this week, as six month old Nyla Haywood was discharged from the hospital after her early birth at just 22 weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Considered a \u201cmicro-preemie\u201d due to her small size and extremely early arrival, Nyla weighed just <\/span>one pound, one ounce and was 11 inches at birth, after her mother, Nakeya Haywood, went into labor prematurely due to pre-eclampsia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia [at] 22 weeks, and from there, things just didn’t necessarily get better. And we had to make that tough decision that we had to deliver her. That was pretty much the beginning of the story,” Haywood told <\/span>Fox 32<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>\u201cIt was a very scary time.”<\/span><\/p>\n
