Now, he&#8217;s charged with that infant&#8217;s murder."},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An Oklahoma man is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.okcfox.com\/news\/local\/newcastle-dad-arrested-and-charged-with-murder-in-connection-to-9-month-olds-death-baby-unresponsive-child-abuse-investigation-osbi-hospital-passed-away-first-degree-murder-arrest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being charged<\/a> with murder after police say he killed his nine-month old son, a year after he pled guilty to beating the child&#8217;s mother while she was pregnant with the boy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Police arrested 25-year-old Hunter Smiley on April 15, just three days after his infant son, Briggs, died.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On April 10, police responded to a home after a call that a baby was unresponsive; there they found baby Briggs, who was under Smiley\u2019s care. Briggs was rushed to the hospital, where he had <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">internal bleeding in his brain and hemorrhaging behind his eyes. She was pregnant at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-13358335\/Oklahoma-man-beat-girlfriend-pregnant-murdered-baby-son-born-prosecutors-say.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daily Mail<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Briggs\u2019 mother had received a \u201cno contact\u201d order from the court following the assault, but she later asked the court to lift the order so that Smiley could be involved in his son\u2019s birth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is tragic when a life is taken so early,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kfor.com\/news\/local\/murder-charges-filed-following-death-of-9-month-old\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> District Attorney Greg Mashburn. \u201cWe will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law to be the voice of this victim who is unable to speak for himself,\u201d he continued. \u201cThank you to the Newcastle Police Department and the OSBI for your hard work on this case so we may seek justice for [Briggs].\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Domestic violence is one of the greatest threats that women face while pregnant.
