In an interview<\/a> with Vice President Kamala Harris on a taped episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show” that aired Monday, Barrymore fawned over Harris, telling her she is well respected and could be a “great protector” for the nation. She also gushed that Harris should be the “Momala” of the country.<\/p>\n

“Momala” is reportedly the nickname<\/a> Harris’ stepchildren with husband Doug Emhoff gave her. It’s reported that they didn’t like the word “stepmom” so they mashed “mom” and “Kamala” together to create “Momala.” However, there is also speculation that since Emhoff is Jewish, “Momala” is also a take on the Yiddish word “mamele” which is pronounced the same way and means “little mama.”<\/p>\n

Barrymore told Harris, “… I keep thinking in my head that we all need a mom. I’ve been thinking that we really all need a tremendous hug in the world right now, but in our country, we need you to be Momala of the country.”<\/p>\n

The moment has been called ‘cringe<\/a>‘ by media<\/a> outlets<\/a> and social<\/a> media<\/a>.<\/p>\n
