In total, there were about 3.59 million births in the U.S. last year, with declines <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/u-births-fall-2023-lowest-161347465.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across all races and ethnicities. According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/us-news\/america-birth-rate-decline-a111d21b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the number of births last year was the lowest since 1979.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The numbers indicate a future population crisis for the U.S. as they fall well below the \u201creplacement rate,\u201d which is considered to be 2.1 births per woman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The total fertility rate in 2023 remained below replacement \u2014 the level at which a given generation can exactly replace itself (2,100 births per 1,000 women),&#8221; the report <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/u-births-fall-2023-lowest-161347465.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">read<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. &#8220;The rate has generally been below replacement since 1971 and consistently below replacement since 2007.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019ve certainly had larger declines in the past. But decline fits the general pattern,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/24\/health\/us-birth-rate-decline-2023-cdc\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Dr. Brady Hamilton, a statistician with the National Center for Health Statistics and lead author of the new report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elon Musk, who has been outspoken in raising the alarm about the world\u2019s plummeting population, warned that the U.S. is \u201cheading for extinction.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">While many other countries are worse, America is trending towards extinction! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/x6ak0T1k5r\">https:\/\/t.co\/x6ak0T1k5r<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1783600579237032054?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhile many countries are worse, America is heading for extinction!\u201d he said in a tweet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indeed, as Musk notes, America is not alone in this crisis. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/birth-rates-finland-downward-culturally-driven\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Numerous<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/birth-rates-england-wales-abortions-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">countries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> around the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/argentina-birth-rate-plummets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">world<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are experiencing plummeting birth rates, with some, like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/south-korea-plummeting-marriage-birth-rate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South Korea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/japans-prime-minister-falling-birth-rate-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Japan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Hungary, implementing incentives like stipends and tax write-offs to families in an effort to boost population. Several recent reports indicate that Greece is likely to be the first country to experience a total <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/greece-expected-first-population-collapse\/\">population collapse<\/a>.
