News outlets across the nation, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/11\/07\/politics\/ohio-issue-1-abortion-rights\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>, projected \u201c\u2026 continuing a winning trend for abortion rights advocates since the overturning of Roe v. Wade.\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abortion-ohio-constitutional-amendment-republicans-courts-fb1762537585350caeee589d68fe5a0d\">Associated Press<\/a> noted, \u201cIt was the seventh straight victory in statewide votes for supporters of abortion access nationally since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned constitution protections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colorado has been referred to as the leader in abortion, ignominiously so.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>RHEA removed all abortion restrictions, including parental involvement for minors<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2022, Colorado passed the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb22-1279\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Reproductive Health Equity Act\u2019 (RHEA)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the passing of the Act, Colorado became one of seven states at that time without any restrictions on abortion. The act did the following: codified the \u201cright\u201d to abortion at any stage of the pregnancy up to birth, removed any rights of the embryo or fetus under Colorado law; prohibits local government entities from independently implementing their own restrictions; prohibits parents from preventing their minor from obtaining an abortion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About the only thing RHEA did <em>not<\/em> permit is the use of taxpayer\/public funding for abortion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coloradotimesrecorder.com\/2022\/03\/fact-check-co-rules-for-minors-on-parental-notification-for-abortions-unaffected-by-dems-abortion-rights-bill\/44304\/#google_vignette\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Katherine Riley<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the policy director for the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights\u00a0 (COLOR), at the time noted, \u201cRHEA is about protecting our fundamental right to choose. Parental notification is a barrier to access, but not a barrier to choice because <strong>even if a parent is notified of their child\u2019s choice to pursue an abortion in Colorado, they legally cannot prevent the abortion from happening<\/strong>.\u201d (emphasis added)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> was overturned, pro-abortion leaders in Colorado have designated January 22<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nd<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as \u201cRoe versus Wade\u201d anniversary day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pro-abortion advocates are not still not satisfied.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>More extreme bills attack efforts to protect innocent life<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, 2023, pro-abortion Colorado lawmakers passed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/coloradonewsline.com\/2023\/04\/14\/colorado-polis-abortion-related-protections\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">several bills<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to protect doctors who perform abortions on women\/minors traveling from out of state and placed restrictions on the advertising of pro-life organizations. They also attempted to define prescribing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-medical.net\/news\/20230504\/Colorado-becomes-the-first-state-to-ban-so-called-abortion-pill-reversals.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abortion Pill Rescue (APR) as \u201cprofessional misconduct<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d which could result in loss of professional licensure. It is currently being challenged in the courts. \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As if this were not enough, this year, the radical abortion advocates are seeking to enshrine Colorado abortion laws into the state\u2019s constitution with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.state.co.us\/pubs\/elections\/Initiatives\/titleBoard\/results\/2023-2024\/89Results.html\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Right to Abortion, Initiative 89<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If passed, not only would this amendment cement abortion into the constitution, but it would also \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.state.co.us\/pubs\/elections\/Initiatives\/titleBoard\/results\/2023-2024\/89Results.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prohibit the state<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and local governments from denying, impeding, or discriminating against the exercise of that right, allowing abortion to be a covered service under health insurance plans for Colorado state and local government employees and for enrollees in state and local governmental insurance programs.\u201d In addition, not only would this amendment force taxpayer funding, but it would also cement a lack of safety measures that would help to protect women: abortion at any time, for any reason, without ensuring providers are properly credentialed, without oversight or regulation. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All this in the name of \u201cwomens\u2019 health\u201d (a tragic oxymoron).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h4>A seismic shift<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the earth beneath Colorado is rumbling, as there is about to be a seismic shift. Since 2022, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prolifeco.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pro-Life Colorado<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Coalition has united over 50 anti-abortion groups to form a united front, to speak with one voice in support of the unborn. On April 12<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 2024, Colorado held its first Colorado March for Life, where thousands of people rallied to support the humanity, value, and dignity of the unborn.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was also another monumental event on April 12<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Following the March for Life, the American Association of Pro-life OB-GYNs (AAPLOG) launched its <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">first in the nation<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> state chapter, AAPLOG Colorado. The American Association of Pro-life OB-GYNs Colorado chapter is working to bring life affirming policies and support for women to the state. We will be a resource for legislators, medical professionals, students and our communities.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The science affirming life at conception is on our side. We have made so many advances in technology and in the knowledge of cellular biology. Medical professionals are the most equipped to bring this knowledge to the forefront in defense of life. Together, with the support of AAPLOG, the Colorado chapter will bring together a network of pro-life health care providers (MDs, NPs, PAs, nurses, pharmacists, medical\/nursing students), equipped with the most accurate, evidence-based rationale to support life in the womb in an effort to counter the radical abortion movement \u2014\u00a0to turn this state from a culture of death to a culture celebrating life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We invite any pro-life health care professionals in Colorado to join our chapter. We encourage other states to follow suit.
