Dr. Adam Levy, an abortionist at the <\/span>Birth Control Care Center<\/span><\/a> abortion facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, is no stranger to controversy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His past first came under widespread scrutiny in 2022 after he appeared in a <\/span>political ad<\/span><\/a> opposing Republican <\/span>April Becker<\/span><\/a>‘s campaign. Becker was running for the U.S. House at the time. In the ad, Levy <\/span>claimed<\/span><\/a> that Becker\u2019s \u201cextreme backers\u201d supported \u201cban[ning] all abortions.\u201d He also claimed, \u201cBefore Roe v. Wade, doctors saw plenty of botched, back-alley abortions, and far too many women died.\u201d Notably, this is untrue; most “back-alley” abortions were committed by doctors<\/em><\/a>, and the death rate from abortions began to fall decades prior to Roe v. Wade<\/em> due to the advent of antibiotics<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

As some <\/span>media<\/span><\/a> outlets <\/span>observed<\/span><\/a> at the time, it was somewhat ironic for Levy to publicly decry botched abortions resulting in women’s deaths, because Levy himself has settled at least <\/span>three malpractice complaints<\/span><\/a> in the past, including one case in which the patient <\/span>died<\/span><\/a> after her uterus was perforated during an abortion procedure. Another of his patients <\/span>sued<\/span><\/a> after she \u201csuffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to her labia and perenium [sic] from a hot weighted speculum used in surgery.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The same media outlets who reported on Levy\u2019s malpractice history also pointed out that Levy has a criminal record.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1998, Levy was charged with one count of sexual assault with a minor under 16 years of age, and six counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14. Two different victims were named in related court documents (though their names have been redacted here out of respect for their privacy). Levy entered what is known as an Alford plea. <\/span>According<\/span><\/a> to Cornell Law School\u2019s Legal Information Institute, \u201cAn Alford plea, also known as a \u2018best-interests plea,\u2019 registers a formal admission of guilt towards charges in criminal court while the defendant simultaneously expresses their innocence toward those same charges.\u201d <\/span>LawInfo<\/span><\/a> adds: \u201cAn Alford plea is based on a voluntary and intelligent choice to avoid a harsher criminal sentence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In exchange for this plea, Levy\u2019s charges \u2013 and penalties \u2013 were significantly reduced. <\/span><\/p>\n

He was ultimately convicted on two counts of child abuse and neglect. He was sentenced to two years in county jail, which was suspended, and he was given a total of five years of probation. He was also ordered to attend counseling and to pay for any counseling required by his victims. In addition, his plea agreement references a \u201cduplicate case,\u201d which was dismissed \u2013 the records of that case were also sealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Levy\u2019s background has become a matter of <\/span>public discussion<\/span><\/a> once more, largely due to the efforts of activist <\/span>Maison DesChamps<\/span><\/a>, also known as ‘<\/span>Pro-Life Spiderman<\/span><\/a>‘, who has launched a <\/span>campaign<\/span><\/a> to expose the abortionist\u2019s questionable history.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to DesChamps and other Las Vegas pro-lifers, Levy is currently considered a pillar of the community in spite of his dubious past. This would appear to be confirmed by Levy’s multiple prestigious positions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Levy is an <\/span>associate professor<\/span><\/a> in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery & Obstetrics at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), where he is also the director of the division of family planning in the UNLV School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics\/Gynecology, as well as the <\/span>director of the Ryan program<\/span><\/a>, which trains future abortionists. <\/span>He is the <\/span>Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology<\/span><\/a> at University Medical Center. <\/span><\/p>\n

He is also <\/span>on staff<\/span><\/a> at Sunrise Children’s Hospital \u2013 in spite of his child abuse conviction.<\/span><\/p>\n

DesChamps, who is a student at UNLV, is calling on the school’s administrators to dismiss Levy. DesChamps would also like to ultimately see Levy’s abortion facility shut down. <\/span><\/p>\n

“We hope to see Adam Levy finally held accountable for his actions,” DesChamps told Live Action News. “No one with his criminal history should be anywhere near patients.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Las Vegas pro-lifers are hopeful that these efforts will ultimately bring about change, both locally and globally. One local pro-lifer, who wishes to remain anonymous, had this to say: \u201cI personally pray that this exposure will bring Dr. Adam Levy, and the other abortionists watching what\u2019s happening, to a point of repentance and one day they will help save lives instead.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
