MacArthur Foundation&#8217;s name. But what you may not know is that the foundation doesn&#8217;t just support public broadcasting; it is a large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grants\/?q=abortion%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contributor<\/a> to Big Abortion, and has also been funding media outlets and\/or their key foundations and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grants\/?q=Journalism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">host<\/a> of journalism schools and projects.<\/p>\n<p>Media outlets taking grants from MacArthur Foundation include NPR Radio, Poynter, and the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF).<\/p>\n<p>While the MacArthur Foundation claims online to &#8220;boldly&#8221; invest in &#8220;creative solutions to urgent challenges, sparking hope for our future,&#8221; the Foundation has funded multiple pro-abortion groups. There is no &#8220;hope&#8221; in the deliberate targeting and violent killing of innocent preborn children in the womb.<\/p>\n<h3>Pro-abortion Groups<\/h3>\n<p>The Foundation funds the following pro-abortion groups:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bixby Center for Global and Reproductive Health<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Bixby Center is a <a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/bixby-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a> through the <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/129688664\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of California, San Francisco<\/a> (UCSF) which receives millions in government dollars and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/paying-millions-abortion-training-taxpayers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trains<\/a> abortion providers. Bixby was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/bixby-center-for-global-reproductive-health-university-of-california-san-francisco-36501\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> over $2.1 million ($2,119,000) between 2003 and 2008 by the MacArthur Foundation. Bixby <a href=\"https:\/\/bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a> to be \u201cone of the few research institutions to unflinchingly address abortion, investigating multidimensional aspects of abortion care in the United States and globally.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Center for Reproductive Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to the MacArthur Foundation&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/center-for-reproductive-rights-13948\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>, between 1992 and 2016, the foundation gave the pro-abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/group-mississippi-abortion-fundamental-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Reproductive Rights (CFRR)<\/a> more than $6 million ($6,097,500). CFRR was <a href=\"https:\/\/reproductiverights.org\/center-for-reproductive-rights-mourns-the-loss-of-founder-and-president-emerita-janet-benshoof\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">founded<\/a> in 1992 by Janet Benshoof and was created after Benshoof \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1992\/06\/16\/nyregion\/33-win-macarthur-awards-including-17-women.html?searchResultPosition=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received<\/a>\u00a0a $280,000 \u2018genius\u2019 grant from the\u00a0<a title=\"www.macfound.org\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/fellows\/451\/\">MacArthur Foundation<\/a>.\u201d Benshoof \u201cestablished what was then known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20011109012530\/http:\/\/www.crlp.org\/ab_bios.html#jb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Reproductive Law and Policy [CRLP]<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Guttmacher Institute<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;MacArthur participated in a consortium of donors to support the Guttmacher Institute to increase the evidence on abortion, unintended pregnancy, and contraception,&#8221; a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/media\/files\/prh-paper_final_8.3.21.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> from the MacArthur Foundation\u2019s Population and Reproductive Health Program claimed. Between 1986 and 2015, MacArthur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/guttmacher-institute-1062\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> Planned Parenthood&#8217;s former &#8220;special affiliate,&#8221; the Guttmacher Institute, $4.3 million ($4,356,584).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Gynuity Health Projects (GHP)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The MacArthur Foundation&#8217;s website shows that nearly $1.9 million ($1,850,000) was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/ghp-solutions-llc-39329\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> to Gynuity Health Projects (GHP), otherwise known as GHP Solutions, LLC., between 2005 and 2016. Gynuity has been behind multiple clinical trials on the abortion pill. In 2015, GHP <a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT02513043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sponsored<\/a>\u00a0its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-trial-expands-thwart-fda-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ever-expanding<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/telabortion-abortion-pill-trial-skirts-fda-regulations\/\">TelAbortion clinical trials<\/a>\u00a0(referred to by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90358032\/abortion-crackdown-may-also-affect-medical-abortions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fast Company<\/a> as a \u201cworkaround\u201d to the Food and Drug Administration&#8217;s REMS safety system) to dispense the abortion pill via mail order. GHP <a href=\"https:\/\/gynuity.org\/donors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funders<\/a> include the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/476032365-susan-thompson-buffett-foundation\/?query=gynuity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffett<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/nonprofits\/full_text_search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&amp;q=gynuity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gates<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20190517205834\/https:\/\/www.packard.org\/grants-and-investments\/grants-database\/gynuity-health-projects-llc\/\">Packard Foundations<\/a>\u00a0(more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/942278431-david-and-lucile-packard-foundation\/?query=gynuity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>) as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180616184524\/http:\/\/gynuity.org\/about\/partners\/#donors\">Population Council<\/a>. According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/nonprofits\/full_text_search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&amp;q=gynuity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">990s on file with ProPublica<\/a>, the National Abortion Federation (NAF), the MacArthur Foundation, and Hopewell Foundation have all funded Gynuity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OpenDemocracy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2007, MacArthur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/opendemocracy-usa-41187\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> OpenDemocracy $40,000. This left-leaning group, which once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/medical_abortion_a_revolution_for_womens_reproductive_rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">referred<\/a> to the abortion pill as a \u201crevolution for women\u2019s reproductive rights,\u201d has also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/exposed-behind-recent-attacks-abortion-pill-reversal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> hit pieces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/en\/5050\/abortion-pill-reversal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attacking<\/a>\u00a0Abortion Pill Reversal (<a href=\"http:\/\/reverseabortionpill.com\/\">APR<\/a>) by falsely labeling the protocol as \u201cdangerous\u201d or \u201cunproven,\u201d even referring to women who seek out the treatment as \u201cguinea pigs.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Planned Parenthood<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood is by far the largest abortion corporation in the United States. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grants\/?q=planned%20parenthood%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">search<\/a> at the organization&#8217;s grants website indicates that the MacArthur Foundation has contributed in total over $2.8 million, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Planned Parenthood of Illinois: $90,000 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/planned-parenthood-of-illinois-12112\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1991-2017<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>International Planned Parenthood Federation: $2,220,000 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/international-planned-parenthood-federation-35952\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2002-2012<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood Federation of America: $450,000 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/planned-parenthood-federation-of-america-712\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1985<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood of the Palm Beach Area: $50,000 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/planned-parenthood-of-the-palm-beach-area-1449\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1987<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Population Council<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The MacArthur Foundation&#8217;s website reveals it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/population-council-3653\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> more than $19 million ($19,022,000) to the Population Council, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/population-council-founded-eugenicists-promoting-abortion-turns-65\/\">eugenics-based<\/a>\u00a0organization\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.popcouncil.org\/about\/timeline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">founded<\/a> by John D. Rockefeller III, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/237093598-john-d-and-catherine-t-macarthur-foundation-consolidated\/?query=population%20council\">1989 to 2023<\/a>. The Population Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrlc.org\/archive\/news\/2006\/NRL07\/BuffettDonation.html\">brought<\/a>\u00a0the abortion pill into the U.S. and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2000\/09\/30\/us\/abortion-pill-distributor-energized-by-new-mission.html\">later<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20010202214900\/http:\/earlyoptionpill.com\/history.php3\">set up<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrlc.org\/archive\/news\/2006\/NRL07\/BuffettDonation.html\">Danco Laboratories, LLC,<\/a>\u00a0as a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/caselaw.findlaw.com\/ny-supreme-court-appellate-division\/1151610.html\">sub-licensee<\/a>\u00a0of the Population Council.\u00a0Shortly after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-secrecy-abortion-pill-transparency-needed-today\/\">establishing<\/a>\u00a0Danco to manufacture the pill, they set up a system through which it would also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/whos-making-millions-sale-abortion-pill\/\">receive<\/a> royalties from its sales. Today, the Population Council is funded by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/562618866-bill-and-melinda-gates-foundation\/?query=Population%20Council%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gates<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/476032365-susan-thompson-buffett-foundation\/?query=population%20council\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffett,<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/profiles\/v0\/942278431-david-and-lucile-packard-foundation\/?query=population%20council%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Packard<\/a>\u00a0Foundations, among\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantmakers.io\/search\/grants\/?query=Population%20Council&amp;page=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many others<\/a> \u2014 including the Ford, Hewlett, MacArthur, and Kellogg Foundations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other pro-abortion groups funded by MacArthur<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Catholics for Choice: over $3 million ($3,024,500) from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/catholics-for-choice-2413\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1991-2011<\/a><\/li>\n<li>IPAS: over $7 million ($7,320,000) from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/ipas-3739\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1992-2020<\/a><\/li>\n<li>National Abortion Rights Action League Foundation: $75,000 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/national-abortion-rights-action-league-foundation-10689\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1992-1995<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Pathfinder International: over $21 million ($21,707,000) from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/pathfinder-international-1055\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1986 &#8211; 2021<\/a><\/li>\n<li>United Nations Population Fund: over $3 million ($3,312,000) from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/united-nations-population-fund-24316\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2002-2017<\/a><\/li>\n<li>University of California San Francisco (UCSF): the foundation has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grants\/?q=%22University%20of%20California%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> money to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucsf.edu\/search?search=MacArthur+FOundation+&amp;filter=All&amp;op=Search#gsc.tab=0&amp;gsc.q=MacArthur%20FOundation%20&amp;gsc.page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of California system<\/a> for various programs.<\/li>\n<li>World Health Organization (WHO): $6,495,000 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/world-health-organization-6456\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1999-2017<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MacArthur Foundation has also funded abortion studies, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improving access to safe abortion in a rural primary care setting in India: experience of a service delivery intervention (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4863363\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Provision of medical methods of abortion in facilities in India in 2015: A six state comparison (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/17441692.2019.1642365\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Provision of Abortion and Postabortion Services in Assam, 2015 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/fact-sheet\/provision-abortion-and-postabortion-services-assam-2015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the MacArthur Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/fellows\/class-of-2023\/diana-greene-foster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">named<\/a> Diana Greene Foster, a pro-abortion researcher who wrote the heavily <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/turnaway-study-takedown-video-debunks-denied-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debunked<\/a> Turnaway Study, and a professor at the pro-abortion Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH), a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-researcher-misleading-study-genius-grant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023<\/a> MacArthur Fellow. Loretta Ross, founder of the pro-abortion group Sister Song, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/fellows\/class-of-2022\/loretta-j-ross\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">named<\/a> a MacArthur Fellow the previous year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K9X1owHCXPQ?si=cJjmmFrYaHuPVPPq\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Media Outlets<\/h3>\n<p>A grants search on the organization&#8217;s website also revealed that the organization was funding the following media outlets:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Futuro Media Group\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Futuro Media Group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futuromediagroup.org\/aboutus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a> to be &#8220;an independent, nonprofit organization producing multimedia journalism that explores and gives a critical voice to the diversity of the American experience.&#8221; But the media group has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latinousa.org\/search\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> multiple articles with a pro-abortion slant, including the false <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latinousa.org\/2014\/02\/07\/crisis-pregnancy-centers-deception-salvation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggestion<\/a> that pro-life pregnancy help centers are &#8220;deceptive.&#8221; Between 2013 and 2021, MacArthur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/futuro-media-group-45400\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> them $3,650,000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>KFF is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formerly known<\/a> as The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, or the Kaiser Family Foundation, and it is far from unbiased on abortion. Between 1990 and 2023, the MacArthur Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/henry-j-kaiser-family-foundation-5287\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> KFF $41,000.<\/p>\n<p>As Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/washington-post-abortion-propaganda-later-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> reported, one of Kaiser\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/board-of-trustees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Board of Trustees<\/a>\u00a0is Kathleen Sebelius, the former\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/newsroom\/press-releases\/ppfa-statement-gov-kathleen-sebelius-confirmation-secretary-hhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pro-abortion<\/a>\u00a0Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services under Barack Obama, who was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cjonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/state\/2009\/04\/13\/sebelius-lowballed-tiller-donations\/16434749007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">financially supported,<\/a>\u00a0in part, by tainted dollars sent by late-term abortionist George Tiller.<\/p>\n<p>The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) as well as The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation were not only named past\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/newsroom\/campaigns\/ppfa-media-excellence-awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recipients<\/a> of Planned Parenthood\u2019s infamous PPFA Maggie Award (named after eugenicist founder Margaret Sanger), but according to some <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-investor-poll-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a>, the Kaiser Family Foundation was described as one of the original investors in the abortion pill, RU-486, when it was first introduced into the United States through the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/population-council-founded-eugenicists-promoting-abortion-turns-65\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Population Council<\/a>. In addition, Kaiser has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1993\/09\/09\/us\/broader-uses-seen-for-abortion-pill.html?searchResultPosition=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sponsored studies<\/a> on multiple uses of the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>Even more damning is that Kaiser\u2019s own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/current-financials-and-funds-we-receive-from-foundations-and-other-partners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>\u00a0lists multiple\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UnzbQzvGlSU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">philanthropists<\/a> as \u201cfunders,\u201d including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation \u2013\u00a0all known for funding Big Abortion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Public Radio (NPR)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Between 1999 and 2002, MacArthur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/npr-foundation-30169\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> $7 million to the NPR Foundation. In addition, between 1985 and 2020, they also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/national-public-radio-997\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> $29,938,443 to National Public Radio in D.C. The <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/npr-media-slandering-pro-lifers-funded-abortion-soros\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Soros-funded<\/a> National Public Radio (NPR) is among the media outlets which failed to correctly cover a previous White House summit on social media censorship where Live Action\u2019s president Lila Rose was in attendance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New York Times<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MacArthur Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macfound.org\/grantee\/the-new-york-times-neediest-cases-fund-10617119\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contributed<\/a> $50,000 to The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytcommunitiesfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Times Communities Fund<\/a> to &#8220;to maximize impact and motivate a community of informed donors&#8221; and to &#8220;capitalize on the Times&#8217;s extended reach, increasingly diverse platform, and credibility to solicit more support for high-impact programs that assist our global community.&#8221; The fund, according to the MacArthur Foundation, was &#8220;established in 1911 as The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund to encourage the paper&#8217;s readers to help their neighbors in need,&#8221; the group claimed. But &#8220;In 2023, The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund updated its name to The New York Times Communities Fund as part of an effort to reflect a more modern philanthropic approach. The mission of The Fund remains unchanged,&#8221; NYT&#8217;s Fund <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytcommunitiesfund.org\/#faq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> stated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Poynter Institute<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2018, The Poynter Institute, &#8220;a nonprofit school for journalists based in St. Petersburg, Fla., &#8230; acquired direct ownership of PolitiFact&#8221; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politifact.com\/article\/2018\/feb\/12\/politifact-gains-nonprofit-status-move-poynter-ins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politifact<\/a>.
