Planned Parenthood\u2019s Columbia Health Center in Columbia, South Carolina, has a <\/span>history<\/span><\/a> of documented <\/span>ambulance calls<\/span><\/a> in response to patient health emergencies, including three in 2021 alone. On Tuesday, March 5, yet another ambulance appeared outside the facility, according to local sidewalk advocate Mark Baumgartner, who serves as the executive director of the pro-life ministry <\/span>A Moment of Hope<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This particular Planned Parenthood facility has a dubious track record. In 2015, it was <\/span>fined<\/span><\/a> for improper disposal of fetal remains, among other violations. The same year, it was cited for <\/span>21 violations<\/span><\/a> of various regulations after a routine inspection by the state\u2019s Department of Health and Environmental Control and was warned that it would be <\/span>shut down<\/span><\/a> if immediate corrective actions were not taken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the same facility was again cited for <\/span>violations<\/span><\/a> following its 2020 inspection, on which it received an overall score of 0.0%.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Baumgartner, who acts as a sidewalk advocate at this facility on each of the twice-weekly days on which abortions are committed, the <\/span>latest ambulance incident<\/span><\/a> illustrates not only the health risks faced by the facility\u2019s customers, but also the challenging, hostile environment in which sidewalk advocates are attempting to save lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe escorts are very aggressive and effective at breaking up any conversations we are having with moms arriving,\u201d Baumgartner told Live Action News. \u201cEven as we are walking them on[to] our ultrasound RV they frequently scare them from going on<\/a> and then lead them in[side] P[lanned] P[arenthood] for the abortion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>video<\/span><\/a> of the latest ambulance arrival, which was shot by Baumgartner, clearly proves his point. Signs posted by Planned Parenthood near the facility\u2019s entrance read: \u201cLIME GREEN VESTS Are Protesters! DO NOT STOP!\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t stop. Keep driving\u201d; the latter message is written in both English and Spanish.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, the video clearly shows one of the \u201cclinic escorts\u201d attempting to block Baumgartner\u2019s view of the ambulance while shouting \u201cHush, Mark,\u201d making offensive remarks, and advising another staff member to \u201chave them [the ambulance] go around back.\u201d A second video<\/a>, taken from another perspective, shows an escort directing the ambulance toward the back of the building. This is a tactic which is frequently used by abortion facilities, <\/span>including this particular one<\/span><\/a>, in order to minimize public exposure of these troubling incidents.<\/span><\/p>\n
