This article joins an <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/ap-hit-piece-attacking-baby-olivia-video\/\">earlier critique<\/a> released by the Associated Press.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/iowa-house-passes-baby-olivia-bill\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Iowa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has become the latest state, joining North Dakota and West Virginia, to advance legislation requiring videos like Live Action\u2019s \u201cBaby Olivia\u201d to be shown to middle school and high school students. \u201cBaby Olivia\u201d uses realistic, groundbreaking animation to depict medically-accurate information about life in the womb, from the moment of <em>fertilization through birth<\/em>, and includes significant points in the preborn child\u2019s growth and development for every week of pregnancy.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span>The Washington Post begins by referring to the videos as showing \u201ca <strong style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fetus<\/strong> that Live Action named Olivia progressing in utero from a fertilized egg to a <strong style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fetus<\/strong> near birth\u201d (emphasis added). The repetitive phrasing is likely intentional and meant to avoid using the term <em style=\"font-weight: 400;\">baby<\/em> or <em>child<\/em> in an attempt to obscure the fact that preborn children are members of the human family<em>. <\/em>Yet \u201cfetus\u201d is merely a descriptive term for a <em>period<\/em> of human development \u2013 the same as \u201cembryo,\u201d \u201cnewborn,\u201d \u201ctoddler,\u201d or \u201cteenager.\u201d Once a human egg is fertilized, it is properly referred to as a <em>zygote<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S-lQOooYAs8?si=QpPfPWb13nPP8Y89\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The article continues deriding the video:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The video makes assertions that medical experts challenge. It starts by saying that a \u201cnew human being has come into existence\u201d at the moment of fertilization \u2014 which some medical experts and abortion rights advocates contested is religious ideology \u2014 and that three weeks and one day later, a heartbeat can be detected. It goes on to say that 11 weeks after fertilization, \u201cOlivia\u201d is \u201cplaying\u201d and \u201cexploring her environment,\u201d and that 20 weeks after fertilization, some babies have survived outside the womb.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Noting that a new human being has come into existence is hardly \u201creligious ideology.\u201d It\u2019s an assertion based in scientific fact; nearly 10 years ago, scientists were even able to determine the moment life begins \u2013 with a zinc <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/scientists-say-life-begins-at-conception-with-flash-of-light\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spark<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that occurs when sperm fertilizes the egg. At that time, the preborn baby has his or her own individual, unique DNA, with countless genetic traits \u2013 like sex, race, hair color, eye color, and more \u2013 already determined, completely distinct from his or her mother and father. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A preborn child\u2019s heart begins beating three weeks after fertilization. Despite being phrased by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-abortion-agenda-heartbeat-declaration\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">abortion industry<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a meaningless electrical impulse, the heart, despite not yet having four chambers, is actually pumping blood throughout the baby\u2019s tiny body. By 11 weeks, preborn babies are, indeed, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whattoexpect.com\/pregnancy\/week-by-week\/week-11.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exploring their environments<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; they can stretch, somersault, roll, and even respond to touch. It is also factual that premature children, thanks to advances in medicine, are able to survive outside the womb at younger and younger ages \u2013 including as young as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/premature-baby-celebrates-first-birthday\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">21 weeks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given this, it\u2019s hard to fathom which of these facts are \u201cchallenged\u201d by so-called \u201cmedical experts.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, the Washington Post made sure to find its own supposed experts, including Louise King, who is listed only as \u201cOB\/GYN and director of reproductive bioethics at Harvard Medical School\u2019s Center for Bioethics.\u201d The Washington Post does not bother to mention that King is an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bioethics.hms.harvard.edu\/news\/how-bioethicist-and-doctor-sees-abortion#:~:text=Louise%20King%20is%20an%20assistant,whose%20practice%20includes%20abortion%20services\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">abortionist<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> herself. Another doctor they cited, Michael Belmonte, is a member of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/prh.org\/updates\/meet-our-advocates-dr-michael-belmonte\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Physicians for Reproductive Rights<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, though the Washington Post named him only as \u201can OB\/GYN and fellow at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.\u201d Other abortion activists, including pro-abortion politicians, called \u201cBaby Olivia\u201d nothing but \u201cpropaganda\u201d \u2014 an interesting claim, considering how often the abortion industry has been caught peddling <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-misinfromation-advance\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">misinformation and lies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the media&#8217;s strident objections to \u201cBaby Olivia\u201d in schools, one has to wonder what all the fuss is about, given that human development is basic biological fact. At the same time, the media never seems to object to Planned Parenthood&#8217;s brand of sex education in schools, which tells children killing preborn human beings is &#8216;reproductive freedom.&#8217; It is, after all, easier to kill what you can&#8217;t see. Baby Olivia puts the reality of the child in the womb in living color \u2014 and an industry that depends on society&#8217;s ignorance about abortion (with the help of a complicit media)\u00a0is well aware of this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/actnow.io\/ARQQhk1\"><b><i>The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail for protesting the killing of preborn children.
