(The Daily Signal<\/a>) A pro-life group\u00a0has written an open letter to the NAACP, condemning the\u00a0pro-abortion stance of the nation\u2019s oldest\u00a0civil rights<\/a>\u00a0organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbortion is the ultimate racism. Almost 20 million black babies have been killed since Roe v. Wade,\u201d the letter from the American Life League read. Roe v. Wade was the 1973 Supreme Court ruling that\u00a0legalized abortion<\/a>\u00a0nationwide. It was overturned by the court\u2019s 2022 decision in\u00a0Dobbs v. Jackson<\/a>\u00a0Women\u2019s Health Organization, which returned the issue to the states.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0open letter,<\/a>\u00a0dated\u00a0Feb. 15, was written by the league\u2019s president, Judie Brown, and addressed to Derrick Johnson, president of the Baltimore-based organization.<\/p>\n

Brown took issue with the NAACP\u2019s 2023 \u201cWomen\u2019s Rights to Reproductive Freedom and Health\u201d\u00a0document<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour organization makes several disturbing statements, including the fact that you believe there is a \u2018fundamental right to abortion,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you realize that, in every abortion, a baby dies\u2014often violently?\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cA preborn baby is either starved, burned with a chemical, or torn apart limb from limb.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown cited statistics from the federal\u00a0Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>, pointing\u00a0out that almost 42% of American abortions are performed on black babies. Black women make up just 7.7% of the total U.S. population and\u00a015.3%\u00a0of the U.S. population of women, according to census figures cited by the\u00a0Center for American Women and Politics<\/a>\u00a0at Rutgers University.<\/p>\n

Brown took exception to the\u00a0NAACP resolution asserting that \u201cabortion access is a racial justice issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

She asked Johnson, \u201cDo you realize that organizations like Planned Parenthood target black women for abortions? Where is the justice for these moms and babies?\u201d<\/p>\n
