Is “abortion on demand” simply a euphemism invented by \u201canti-abortion\u201d people, as some pro-abortion groups have been recently claiming? The simple answer is no; it has long been a slogan of the ‘abortion rights’ movement. And it has replaced the old “safe, legal, and rare” mantra, which President Bill Clinton made famous<\/a> in 1992.<\/p>\n

Alexandra DeSanctis wrote in a 2019 Washington Post op-ed, \u201cby 2012\u00a0the Democratic Party\u00a0excised the word \u2018rare\u2019 from its\u00a0official platform<\/a>, writing instead that it favored \u2018safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to go back to the 1990s to find Democrats speaking in a more moderate vein. As recently as her 2008 presidential primary run against Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton\u00a0routinely used<\/a>\u00a0the phrase \u2018safe, legal and rare,\u2019 even\u00a0adding<\/a>, ‘and by rare, I mean rare<\/i>.’ But by her 2016 campaign, she\u2019d dropped such talk,\u201d wrote DeSanctis.<\/p>\n

Today, abortion advocates write<\/a> things like, \u201cI think you should be able to order an abortion on Amazon like you\u2019re renting Blade 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

And therefore, it’s easy to see how\u00a0President Joe Biden recently<\/a>\u00a0upset his pro-abortion base by\u00a0saying<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m a practicing Catholic. I don\u2019t want abortion on demand, but I thought\u00a0Roe v. Wade<\/em>\u00a0was right.\u201d<\/p>\n
