(New Mexico Alliance for Life<\/a>) [On January 31], the New Mexico House Health and Human Services committee, chaired by Albuquerque Progressive, Representative Liz Thompson (D – 24, Bernalillo) tabled House Bill 180<\/a>, the Parenting and Pregnancy Resource Website and Hotline bill. Despite the fact that New Mexico is in the midst of a maternal and child health crisis, progressives displayed a lack of interest in providing New Mexico families a full spectrum of health care choices. The bill was tabled by a party-line vote of 6 (Democrat) – 3 (Republican).<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m saddened that the pregnancy and parenting bill to expand access to much needed resources for New Mexico women and families was tabled on party-line vote,” said HB 180 sponsor Representative Jenifer Jones (R – 32, Dona Ana, Hidalgo, Luna). \u201cAs a 30 year medical professional myself, we know New Mexico is facing a health care access crisis, we should be offering more resources and options to pregnant women and families\u2014not just elective abortions.”<\/p>\n
