Durant, who also goes by the alias Soren Monroe and allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/transgender-socialist-charged-with-vandalizing-prolife-clinic\">identifies as nonbinary or transgender<\/a>, admitted to vandalizing the HerChoice Medical PRC in Bowling Green. At the time of the incident, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/college-student-faces-federal-charges-for-defacing-pro-life-clinic.html\">she was reportedly a member<\/a> of both the Bowling Green Student Rights Union and BGSocialists. The vandalism <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/janes-revenge-spray-paints-ohio-pregnancy-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">included<\/a> spray-painted statements that read, \u201cLIARS,\u201d \u201cFund Abortion,\u201d \u201cAbort God,\u201d and \u201cJane\u2019s Revenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Durant pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge filed under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefacing facilities that provide reproductive health services will not be tolerated in our society,\u201d said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department\u2019s Civil Rights Division in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/ohio-woman-pleads-guilty-freedom-access-clinic-entrances-face-act-violation-damaging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>. \u201cThe Justice Department is committed to enforcing the FACE Act to protect all patients who seek reproductive health services and all persons and facilities that provide such services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe First Amendment provides a constitutional right to peacefully protest, but Ms. Durant\u2019s actions of defacing a reproductive health care center crossed a line,\u201d added Special Agent in Charge Greg Nelsen of the FBI Cleveland Field Office. \u201cThe FBI and our partners will continue to aggressively investigate FACE Act violations and protect every American\u2019s access to reproductive health care services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sIdUuCxyqH8?si=KzrbRfibw48LCj37\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>While the FACE Act has been used in several instances like this one, to protect pregnancy resource centers, it is used far more often to protect abortion facilities \u2014 even though PRCs have been subjected to dozens of instances of violence and vandalism over the past two years. The recent trials of nine pro-lifers in Washington, D.C., have demonstrated the lack of even-handedness shown by the courts toward pro-life individuals who committed no violence or vandalism, but peacefully entered an abortion facility seeking to stop women from killing their preborn children. Those pro-lifers, some of whom are elderly, face up to <em>11 years<\/em> in prison on FACE Act and conspiracy charges.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, in Wisconsin, Hridindu Roychowdhury, who <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/reduced-sentence-man-firebombed-prc\/\">firebombed<\/a> a pro-life office, &#8220;faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, <strong>but prosecutors agreed to recommend that Judge Conley reduce the sentence because he has accepted responsibility for the crime<\/strong>. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for Feb. 14,&#8221; according to the Associated Press (emphasis added).<\/p>\n<p>In November 2022, FBI Director Christopher Wray <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fbi-70-threats-violence-pro-lifers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admitted<\/a>\u00a0that about 70% of abortion-related violence and threats since the Supreme Court decision in\u00a0<i>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/i> have been perpetrated <strong>against<\/strong> pro-life groups. Despite this, the DOJ has repeatedly targeted pro-lifers with <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/doj-targeting-violent-pro-lifers-misleading-dangerous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misleading claims<\/a> that they are responsible for &#8220;extremely dangerous behavior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the April incident, HerChoice released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/ohio-woman-pleads-guilty-vandalizing-pro-life-reproductive-health-clinic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. &#8220;Our desire is for Bowling Green to be a peaceful community where diverse ideas can be communicated in respectful, non-violent ways,&#8221; they said. &#8220;HerChoice has been and will continue to be a place where women can turn to know their options and to know that they are not alone when facing a pregnancy decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Durant faces a maximum of one year in prison.
