The opening of a new Marie Stopes International (MSI) abortion facility in Canc\u00fan, Mexico, reveals what may be a new strategy for the abortion industry: “abortion tourism,” in which women are lured by the idea of a luxury vacation while their preborn child is killed.<\/p>\n

A recent article in Mother Jones refers<\/a> to this tourism with the euphemistic phrase, \u201creproductive health migration,\u201d detailing the price breakdown for a woman traveling from Mississippi to Canc\u00fan for an abortion. Estimations place the cost, which includes three nights at a three-star hotel, at around $700. The article points out that while this cost is not insignificant, it could still be cheaper than traveling for a surgical abortion in the States.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have a lot more direct flights to Canc\u00fan than to any other city in Mexico,\u201d Araceli Lopez Nava V\u00e1zquez, regional managing director of MSI in Latin America, told<\/a> STAT. \u201cThat was an important thing for us to consider\u2026 We\u2019re aiming to help more American women.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to The Messenger<\/a>, the MSI facility will commit up to 15 first-trimester D&C abortions a day. During this abortion procedure, the preborn child is suctioned from the womb and is torn to pieces in the process.<\/p>\n
