{"id":301226,"date":"2023-11-06T18:41:03","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T00:41:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=301226"},"modified":"2023-11-06T17:47:46","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T23:47:46","slug":"ad-ohio-issue-1-protect-sexual-predators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/ad-ohio-issue-1-protect-sexual-predators\/","title":{"rendered":"Ad accurately states how Ohio&#8217;s Issue 1 would protect sexual predators"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The organization Created Equal has produced an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CwFODGEwY_M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ad<\/a> that highlights a major concern surrounding Ohio&#8217;s Issue 1, which is on the November ballot \u2014 the protection of sexual predators.<\/p>\n<p>Citing a true <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/arrest-10-year-old-ohio-rape-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">case<\/a> involving a sexual predator in the state of Ohio last year, the ad points out how Issue 1 will allow sexual assailants to take minors for abortions.<\/p>\n<p>In July of 2022, a 10-year-old girl was taken from Ohio to Indiana by her mother for an abortion. Before she reported the pregnancy \u2014 which indicated the girl had been raped \u2014 abortionist Caitlin Bernard broadcast the tragic situation to the media. Her goal was to promote a false need to increase access to abortion in the state, which is now the goal of Issue 1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CwFODGEwY_M?si=85rSRwsA8wvT_EQS\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;[I]f Issue 1 passes, it could have been her rapist behind the wheel, not her mother,&#8221; states the ad. &#8220;Issue 1 erases important parental notification laws. A sexual abuser could drive your daughter to an abortion and you&#8217;d be left in the dark. Vote No on 1. Protect our daughters, not predators.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Live Action&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/aidingabusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aiding Abusers<\/a> investigation exposed the abortion industry, particularly Planned Parenthood, for aiding sexual abusers who bring their victims for abortions and then continue to abuse them. Children as young as 12 years old were found to be repeatedly abused by adult sexual predators as Planned Parenthood committed abortions on them and returned them to their abusers.<\/p>\n<p>Former Planned Parenthood employees shared that such cover-ups of sexual abuse are systemic throughout the organization. Sue Thayer, former manager of a Planned Parenthood facility, claims that the organization discouraged the mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse, which is required by law.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, a man <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/aiding-abusers-sexual-predators-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brought one of his victims<\/a>, age 14, to Planned Parenthood for an abortion against her will after he made the appointment for her. Planned Parenthood is a mandated reporter of abuse and, therefore, should have contacted authorities, but arrest records indicate that Planned Parenthood failed to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-failed-report-child-sexual-abuse-decades-part-one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">failed<\/a> to report the rape of a 15-year-old after a staffer said it &#8220;wasn&#8217;t worth the hassle&#8221; to contact authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Situations like these can become more frequent when parental notification laws for abortion are revoked, as Issue 1 would do in Ohio. Without such laws, <em>anyone<\/em> could bring an underage sexual assault survivor for an abortion, including the girl&#8217;s rapist, who would then be able to continue the abuse after destroying a major body of evidence against him: the preborn child.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the girl&#8217;s parents would be completely unaware of the abuse and the abortion. If she were to suffer complications, they would have no idea that their daughter had taken abortion pills (the abortion pill has been found to be <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-abortion-pill-four-times-dangerous-surgical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four times more dangerous<\/a> than first-trimester abortion) or undergone surgery that can lead to hemorrhaging.
