(The Daily Signal<\/a>) Tenth-graders at a Missouri high school last week had to watch a slideshow on \u201coppression and privilege\u201d that appears to violate state law by using information from a\u00a0Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u00a0affiliate that lists abortion clinics on its website.<\/p>\n

The website of the Planned Parenthood affiliate tells teens about \u201cporn literacy\u201d and \u201chookups\u201d for casual sex.<\/p>\n

The class of sophomores at Webster Groves High School near St. Louis watched a slideshow titled \u201cBeing an Ally,\u201d which lists so-called oppression categories as \u201cracial,\u201d \u201cclass,\u201d \u201cgender,\u201d \u201csexual orientation,\u201d \u201creligion,\u201d and \u201cimmigration status.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s wrong to teach that different categories of human beings are either inherently oppressive or oppressed,\u201d said the mother of one student, who provided a video of the presentation to The Daily Signal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis rhetoric is divisive in nature and creates undeserved mentalities of guilt or victimhood,\u201d said the mother, who asked to remain anonymous to protect her child\u2019s privacy.<\/p>\n

In an apparent violation of Missouri state law by the\u00a0Webster Groves School District<\/a>, the end of the Oct. 18 slideshow included a barcode and link to the website for Teen Health Source, a subsidiary of Planned Parenthood Toronto.<\/p>\n

Teen Health Source<\/a>\u00a0calls itself a \u201csexual health information service run for and by youth.\u201d Categories listed on its website include \u201cBirth Control,\u201d \u201cGender Identity & Sexual Orientation,\u201d \u201cPleasure,\u201d \u201cPregnancy,\u201d \u201cPuberty & The Body,\u201d \u201cSex,\u201d and \u201cSTIs\u201d [sexually transmitted infections].<\/p>\n

The presentation to 10th-graders isn\u2019t out of the\u00a0ordinary for Webster Groves School District<\/a>, which enrolls almost 4,500 students in the suburbs of St. Louis.<\/p>\n

Last September, a parent read the transgender-promoting\u00a0children\u2019s book \u201cI Am Jazz<\/a>\u201d to a second-grade class without the school\u2019s first informing other parents.<\/p>\n

Starting in kindergarten, students in the school district learn to \u201cexamine issues of social justice and equity within an anti-bias framework.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two school employees, counselor Cassie Aschinger and social worker Anne Gibbs, presented the \u201cprivilege and oppression\u201d slideshow to the 10th-graders, a video of which later was uploaded to an online learning platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing an ally means using your privilege to help support people who are facing oppression that you might not experience yourself,\u201d Aschinger told the 16- and 17-year-old students, according to the video.<\/p>\n

The presentation included tips on listening to those who are oppressed by navigating factors such as \u201cgender pronouns.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gibbs told the students that \u201callies\u201d need to go through \u201cunlearning,\u201d which \u201cinvolves questioning and rejecting oppressive beliefs you might have held for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you learn about your privilege as a non-oppressed person, try to be honest with yourself about how that privilege has affected your life and who you are,\u201d Gibbs told students, according to the video posted below.<\/p>\n

The mother who leaked the video of the slideshow\u00a0to T<\/a>h<\/a>e Daily Signal<\/a>\u00a0said a public school shouldn\u2019t ask children to evaluate their privilege.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe district knows that many parents disapprove and continues to push these lessons anyway,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The \u201cAbout\u201d page for Teen Health Source, linked in the presentation to the 10th-graders, says it is \u201cnon-judgmental, sex-positive, pro-choice, and inclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Missouri law requires school districts to notify parents of the \u201cbasic content of the district\u2019s or school\u2019s human sexuality instruction to be provided to the student.\u201d It also specifies a \u201cparent\u2019s right to remove the student from any part of the district\u2019s or school\u2019s human sexuality instruction.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the school mom who saw and leaked the video of the slideshow said she wasn\u2019t informed in advance.<\/p>\n

In a letter to the state association of school boards, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey promoted a\u00a0model resolution<\/a>\u00a0with which school districts could pledge to \u201cuphold Missouri law on human sexuality instruction in public schools.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bailey\u2019s draft resolution for the Missouri School Boards\u2019 Association notes that \u201cissues of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression are inextricably intertwined with human sexuality.\u201d<\/p>\n
