A teenage girl was shot and killed by her boyfriend after she refused to have an abortion, and authorities have charged him with a double homicide.<\/p>\n

Last fall, 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo was 12 weeks pregnant when she was found dead in a car, having suffered a gunshot wound. In addition to her preborn child, Fiengo was the mother of a one-year-old, to whom her parents said she was deeply devoted.<\/p>\n

“As soon as she gave birth to her child, she took the mother role very serious,” her father, Ricky Fiengo, told local media<\/a> at the time. “I feel devastated. I mean in a way the baby is young so I guess it’s better that he’s not going to feel that pain. It’s just going to take a village; it’s going to take all of us to help and chip in to raise that child and let that child know how great his mother was.”<\/p>\n

He further added that he didn’t think her death was a coincidence. “She was targeted,” he said. “I believe she was. Deep down, a feeling \u2013 I believe she was.”<\/p>\n

After a long investigation, police in Sanford, Florida, confirmed Fiengo’s fears: she was killed by her boyfriend after refusing to have an abortion.<\/p>\n

WESH 2 reported<\/a> that she and her boyfriend, Donovan Faison, had “multiple arguments in which Kaylin’s pregnancy was the focus of the argument,” and that she had gone to the park to meet him the day of her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cFaison wanted Kaylin to terminate the pregnancy and Kaylin’s refusal to do so was the probable motive for the homicide,” the police report read.<\/p>\n

Florida law states<\/a> that a person who murders a pregnant woman will be charged in both<\/em> deaths; accordingly, Faison is facing two counts of felony homicide: one for Kaylin, and one for their preborn child.<\/p>\n

“Today’s events come after a long, almost ten months, of an exhaustive investigation,” Chief Cecil Smith said in a press release<\/a>. “Our investigators have made sure every possible shred of evidence was processed and analyzed in order to bring Kaylin’s killer to justice. This beautiful young woman and mother was taken from this world far too soon, and in a horrific way. We hope that today’s arrest brings the slightest amount of peace for Kaylin’s family and the young son she left behind. It doesn’t bring her back, but at least she will have the justice she deserves.”<\/p>\n
