(NRL News Today<\/a>) It\u2019s not hard \u2014 in fact it\u2019s self-evident \u2014 why the Abortion Industry should loathe Pregnancy Help Centers. Every woman or girl who turns right \u2014 toward a PHC \u2014 instead of left \u2014 into the tender arms of an industry that makes a living off the blood of unborn children and the desperation of their clientele \u2014 is money out of the pockets of Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n

Monopolies and would-be monopolies\u00a0hate<\/strong>\u00a0competition and the Abortion Industry is no different. Already there are many more PHCs than abortion clinics. Imagine how different the landscape would be if there were no Pregnancy Help Centers.\u00a0The Abortion Industry salivates at the very thought.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Rewire News Group<\/em>\u00a0produced two hits pieces this past week: \u201cThe Grift of So-Called Crisis Pregnancy Centers<\/a>\u201d by Jessica Mason Pieklo and \u201cAnti-Abortion Centers Spent Over $600M in One Year. That\u2019s the Tip of the Iceberg<\/a>\u201d by Garnet Henderson. The former is a self-promotional piece which trumpet Henderson \u2018s \u201cdeep dive into the hundreds of millions of dollars funneling through so-called crisis pregnancy centers and what, if anything, those fake clinics are doing with that money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Henderson begins with the usual litany of attacks\u00a0which are as redundant as they are repetitious:<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>Crisis pregnancy centers,\u201d or anti-abortion centers, are known for\u00a0deceiving and manipulating<\/a>\u00a0people seeking information about abortion. They often\u00a0pose as legitimate abortion clinics<\/a>, intentionally obscuring their real purpose. They promote dangerous medical misinformation such as\u00a0abortion pill \u201creversal.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0They also\u00a0discourage safer sex practices<\/a>, and because few of them are actual medical facilities, they don\u2019t adhere to medical standards for\u00a0confidentiality<\/a>\u00a0and safety.<\/em><\/p>\n

But this gross distortion of what PHCs actually do is not really what she\u2019s after. \u201cDocuments reviewed by\u00a0Rewire News Group<\/em> suggest the total may have been closer [to] $1 billion. Where is all that \u2018crisis pregnancy center\u2019 money going?\u201d<\/p>\n

After reading her article \u2014 twice in fact \u2014 I still don\u2019t know where she thinks the money is going. (How the \u201cover $600M in one year\u201d bec[a]me \u201ccloser to $1 billion\u201d is a puzzler as well.) I think\u00a0<\/strong>Henderson thinks it\u2019s backdoor lobbying.<\/p>\n

Many CPCs [Crisis Pregnancy Centers] report that they don\u2019t engage in lobbying at all. However, given their large expenditures on advertising and promotional expenses, that seems doubtful.<\/em><\/p>\n

For instance, if there\u2019s an abortion ban being debated in the state legislature, is a \u201cChoose Life\u201d sign lobbying? Or just an ad for a CPC?<\/em><\/p>\n

She is kidding, right? \u201cHold a Choose Life sign\u201d and suddenly you\u2019re a lobbyist? That\u2019s a “deep dive\u201d into absurdity.<\/p>\n
