A man in Tampa, Florida, has been arrested for attempting to poison the family living above his apartment \u2014 reportedly because the man had complaints about the noise. The incident resulted in the family’s newborn child becoming very sick.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Xuming Li is charged<\/a> <\/span>with possession of a controlled substance, battery assault against the apartment residents, and aggravated stalking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities say Li, who has his Ph.D. in chemistry, repeatedly released a syringe <\/span>filled<\/span><\/a> with <\/span>the strong opioid painkillers methadone and hydrocodone mixed with a yet unknown noxious substance inside the front door of the apartment where in Umar Abdullah, his wife, and their infant daughter lived, in an attempt to poison them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Abdullah said the family had been on friendly terms with Li prior to his daughter\u2019s birth, but the mood shifted after they arrived home from the hospital with their newborn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAfter my daughter was born, right after we came back from the hospital, he started complaining,\u201d Abdullah told <\/span>Inside Edition<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The family then started smelling chemicals throughout their apartment and the three of them became sick.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
