Evidence suggested that these children could have been born alive and then died by infanticide, or could have been killed using the federally banned D&amp;X, or &#8220;partial-birth&#8221; abortion procedure. Both of which could have been the cause of an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">NEW: DC police are backtracking. After telling me Tuesday they were investigating Cesare Santangelo and his DC abortion clinic, they reached out last night to say they are NOT investigating him &#8211; describing him\/his abortion clinic as a \u201cmedical provider.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dCRZVfEx76\">https:\/\/t.co\/dCRZVfEx76<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaryMargOlohan\/status\/1697574811076014236?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 1, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>But on Thursday evening, the police department told The Daily Signal that is <em>not<\/em> investigating Santangelo, calling his abortion business a &#8220;medical provider.&#8221; Instead, it appears the department is investigating the process by which pro-lifers found the babies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor clarification, the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of five fetuses in a residence,\u201d Public Information Officer Hugh Carew said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case remains under investigation,\u201d he added. \u201cAt this time, there is no investigation into the medical provider.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>8\/30\/23<\/strong>: The Washington D.C. Surgi-Center, the business of late-term abortionist Cesare Santangelo, is reportedly being investigated by local police.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Signal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2023\/08\/30\/dc-police-investigating-abortionist-foggy-bottom-clinic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that the Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to them in a statement this week that they are investigating Santangelo&#8217;s facility. No other information about the investigation \u2014 such as what Santangelo is being investigated for \u2014 appears to have been given.<\/p>\n<p>Five pro-life activists \u2014 Herb Geraghty, Will Goodman, Lauren Handy, John Hinshaw, and Heather Idoni \u2014 were recently <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-life-activists-guilty-face-act-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found guilty<\/a> of violating the FACE Act, after a rescue action at the Washington Surgi-Clinic in Washington, D.C., on October 22, 2020. One of the people found guilty, Lauren Handy, was also present for the discovery of the bodies of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/infant-bodies-infanticide-attempted-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over 100 aborted children<\/a>, five of whom were victims of late-term abortions. Evidence suggested that some of these children may have been born alive and then killed, or may have been killed in a D&amp;X, or &#8220;partial-birth&#8221; abortion procedure, which is federally illegal.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the children were buried in a funeral Mass, although the bodies of the five older children were given to the D.C. Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office for forensic investigation. At the one-year anniversary of the discovery of the bodies, the Metropolitan Police Department was criticized for <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/justice-five-pro-lifers-demand-answers-one-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seemingly taking no action<\/a> to investigate any potential crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Santangelo was also previously the subject of a Live Action undercover investigation; on video, he said that his favorite abortion method was to cut the umbilical cord and wait for the child to die by cardiac arrest. Additionally, Santangelo told Live Action investigators that he would not give medical care to a baby who survived an attempted abortion.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NxOWyumLufA?si=1s2E2vunyWaeLvf2\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTechnically \u2013 you know, legally we would be obligated to help it, you know, to survive,\u201d he said. \u201cBut, you know, it probably wouldn\u2019t. It\u2019s all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point. Let\u2019s say you went into labor, the membranes ruptured, and you delivered before we got to the termination part of the procedure here, you know? Then we\u2026 would not help it. We wouldn\u2019t intubate. It would be, you know, uh, a person, a terminal person in the hospital, let\u2019s say, that had cancer, you know? You wouldn\u2019t do any extra procedures to help that person survive. Like \u2018do not resuscitate\u2019 orders.
