Irish singer Sin\u00e9ad O\u2019Connor has passed away, according to the Irish Times<\/a>. She was 56 years old.<\/p>\n

O’Connor released 10 studio albums throughout her career, though she is most well-known for her single “Nothing Compares 2 U.” It was named the No. 1 world single by the Billboard Music Awards in 1990, which gained her global fame and accolades.<\/p>\n

In 2018, she converted to Islam, changing her legal name to Shuhada Sadaqat, though she continued to use the name “Sin\u00e9ad O\u2019Connor” professionally. She had four children, though she was preceded in death by her 17-year-old son, Shane, who committed suicide a year ago. O’Connor’s cause of death has not been released at this time.<\/p>\n
