Her slip up so quickly became controversial that the White House officially <a href=\"https:\/\/gazette.com\/news\/wex\/white-house-alters-kamala-harriss-transcript-speech-over-reduce-population-comment\/article_0258e26a-e9a8-54c0-83cc-4408e77ee0b3.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changed<\/a> the transcript of her speech.<\/p>\n<p>Harris said, &#8220;When we invest in clean energy and electric vehicles and reduce population, more of our children can breathe clean air and drink clean water.&#8221; The altered transcript replaces &#8220;population&#8221; with &#8220;pollution.&#8221; It is unclear which children Harris believes would be breathing clean air and drinking clean water if such population control is successful versus which children would be &#8216;reduced.&#8217;<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">KAMALA HARRIS: \u201cWhen we invest in clean energy and electric vehicles and reduce population, more of our children can breath clean air and drink clean water.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MbMiDx9Xoc\">pic.twitter.com\/MbMiDx9Xoc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1679988366618624000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 14, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><strong>Myth of overpopulation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Harris&#8217; comments received backlash on social media, with criticism coming even from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said, &#8220;Reducing population is nuts. We need to increase population.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Musk has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/elon-musk-low-birth-rates-risks-civilization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that there are not enough people and that &#8220;[o]ne of biggest risks to civilization is the low birth rate and the rapidly declining birth rate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo many people, including smart people, think that there are too many people in the world and the population is growing out of control,\u201d Musk said. \u201cIf people don\u2019t have more children, civilization is going to crumble. Mark my words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More recently, he <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/elon-musk-abortion-birth-control-threaten-humanity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a> with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, saying, &#8220;I\u2019m sort of worried that hey, civilization, if we don\u2019t make enough people to at least sustain our numbers, perhaps increase a little bit, then civilization\u2019s going to crumble. The old question of like, will civilization end with a bang or a whimper? Well, it\u2019s currently trying to end with a whimper in adult diapers, which is depressing as hell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Birth rates have been declining in the U.S. as well as around the globe. There were almost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/articles\/us-births-are-down-again-after-the-covid-baby-bust-and-rebound\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">600,000<\/a> fewer annual births in the U.S. in 2019 compared to 2007 and the U.S. birth rate has <a href=\"https:\/\/econofact.org\/the-mystery-of-the-declining-u-s-birth-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fallen<\/a> 20% since 2007 despite a slight uptick during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The replacement birth rate is 2.1 children per woman, but the 2022 U.S. fertility rate was just 1.7 children per woman.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prb.org\/resources\/low-fertility-not-politically-sustainable\/#:~:text=Low%20fertility%20produces%20an%20age,at%20an%20extremely%20rapid%20rate.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Population Reference Bureau<\/a>, &#8220;Low fertility produces an age structure that creates a momentum for future population decline, a situation that must be stopped at some point if the population is to be demographically sustainable. Also, populations with low fertility can fall in size at an extremely rapid rate. The longer low fertility is maintained, the harder it becomes to reverse population decline.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SVRJnoQJgoY\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Government-funded abortions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration seems ready to reduce the population even further and has not been quiet about its pro-abortion stance, which includes the creation of a website geared towards pointing women and minors towards abortion. The site appears to be part of the administration\u2019s plan to expand abortion in any way possible, as discussed by HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hhs-secretary-xavier-becerra-announces-options-table-protect-abortion\/\">who said \u201call options are on the table\u201d when it comes to protecting abortion accessibility<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the women these policies seem to affect the most are women who are underprivileged. Biden became the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-harris-administration-impacted-pro-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first president<\/a> to exclude the Hyde Amendment \u2014 a pro-life rider preventing federal taxpayers from funding most abortions \u2014 from his proposed budget back in 2021. This amendment protected women on Medicaid from being pressured into aborting their babies for &#8220;free&#8221; rather than be faced with the costs of raising a child. The Hyde Amendment has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-hyde-amendment-saved-2-4-million-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saved an estimated 2.4 million lives<\/a> from abortion \u2014 about 60,000 per year. Without it, certain babies are targeted for abortion based solely on their mother&#8217;s income. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/taxpayers-fund-abortion-more-happen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statistics show<\/a> that government funding of abortion actually <em>increases<\/em> the number of abortions committed. The pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/surprise-guttmacher-survey-shows-women-get-taxpayer-funded-abortions-may-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a>\u00a0that women who undergo government-funded abortions tend to have\u00a0<em>more<\/em>\u00a0abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The Hyde Amendment] may be the pro-life movement\u2019s single greatest achievement,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hyde-amendment-greatest-pro-life-achievement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notes<\/a>\u00a0Kelsey Hazzard, founder of Secular Pro-life. \u201c[\u2026] The Hyde Amendment matters both because it saves lives and because it sends a message about our national values. It says we don\u2019t believe people are better off dead than poor. It says we don\u2019t believe Medicaid kids should be targeted for destruction. And it says we won\u2019t force people of conscience to be complicit in killing children in the womb just by paying their taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wider access to the abortion pill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In April of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-letter-permits-abortion-pill-by-mail-during-the-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2021<\/a>, under the guise of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-covid-19-expand-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>, Biden&#8217;s U.S. Food and Drug Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pharmacy-partnerships-emerge-ship-abortion-pills-mail\/\">loosened<\/a>\u00a0its safety regulations known as REMS to allow for limited\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-pharmacy-operates-used-car-dealership\/\">mail-order pharmacy<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/california-pharmacy-first-us-ship-abortion-pill\/\">distribution<\/a> of the deadly drug regimen. By December of 2021, the Biden FDA had further <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-permanently-loosens-abortion-pill-safety-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weakened<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/drugs\/drug-safety-and-availability\/risk-evaluation-and-mitigation-strategies-rems\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REMS<\/a>\u00a0by eliminating the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-removes-abortion-pill-safety-protocols-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in-person dispensing requirement<\/a>\u00a0and enabling the abortion pill to be <em>permanently<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-permanently-loosens-abortion-pill-safety-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shipped by mail<\/a>, without <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/no-test-abortion-pill-protocol-access-safety\/\">a single test<\/a> to verify pregnancy, gestational age, or life-threatening ectopic pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>By January 2023, the FDA had further gutted the FDA&#8217;s safety protocols on the abortion pill, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-retail-pharmacies-abortion-pills-prescription\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allowing<\/a> and even attempting to force retail pharmacies to dispense it. And it&#8217;s all to ensure there is easy access to the abortion pill despite studies showing that six percent of the women who took it required emergency or urgent care for complications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gnEHZiud8dg\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Now, all anyone needs to sell the abortion pill is a computer, phone, and the ability to write a prescription and use of the abortion pill is quickly rising. As Live Action researcher Carole Novielli <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-dispensaries-increase-roes-reversal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, &#8220;A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ansirh.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-06\/AFD%20Telehealth%20Issue%20Brief%206-14-23%20Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">June 2023 issue brief<\/a> published by the pro-abortion group Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH), &#8216;Availability of Telehealth Services for Medication in the U.S., 2020-2022,&#8217; found that &#8216;The number of facilities offering medication abortion increased from 733 in 2020 to 773 in 2021 to 789 in 2022.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This means women and girls are taking the abortion pill at home and suffering the physical and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/?s=abortion+pill+trauma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emotional<\/a> consequences of that. Some women have even been <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-york-man-arrested-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tricked<\/a> into taking the abortion pill by their significant others. But the Biden administration shows no plan of slowing down its intent to make the abortion pill as widely available as possible.<\/p>\n<p>So did Harris <em>really<\/em> slip up when she said the Biden administration supports population control?<\/p>\n<p>Next on the Biden administration agenda is to fulfill its promise to codify <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and force legalized abortion upon every state. In the six months following the fall of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> in June 2022, there were <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/who-laws-abortions-killing-saves-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">32,260<\/a> fewer abortions.
