When Emily Berning graduated from college, she felt lost. Armed with a newly-minted degree and a desire to serve her community, she was unsure about what to do next. She had always felt a \u201cmagnetic pull\u201d to the pro-life movement but didn\u2019t have a clear concept of what that involved.<\/span><\/p>\n

Berning told Live Action News, \u201cI knew in my heart God was going to do something great in my life but had no idea what. I wondered where I was headed, whether I\u2019d get married, raise a family, or climb the corporate ladder somewhere.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Meeting her now-husband, Nathan, was the beginning of an extraordinary journey the couple would eventually take together. For Berning, Nathan was the \u201cwind beneath her wings,\u201d her greatest ally as she explored avenues in which to become engaged.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith Nathan\u2019s encouragement, I started fleshing out ideas and thought legislative work or grassroots activism was the ticket,\u201d Berning said. \u201cI just knew I wanted to help women in crisis in some way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She had worked part-time previously at the local Right to Life attaining experience in managing campaigns and fundraising.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Grassroots activism leads to disappointment<\/b><\/p>\n

In May 2018, she organized a group to travel to Ireland during a time when the country\u2019s stance on abortion was shifting. Now, as the long-standing abortion ban was lifted, Ireland was no longer a haven for babies in the womb. Berning wanted to support those who were raising their voices in concern.<\/span><\/p>\n

Berning said, \u201cI loved being an activist in college, so I felt I was in the right environment. I really wanted to help promote a culture of life there, but it didn\u2019t work out like I had hoped.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
