Lining up outdoors before 7:00 a.m. and continuing overnight for 20 hours, over 675 pro-life residents of Maine recently\u00a0<\/span>testified against<\/span><\/a>\u00a0an abortion expansion bill.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

LD1619<\/span><\/a>, An Act to Improve Maine’s Reproductive Privacy Laws, would make Maine the sixth state to expand abortion access <\/span>up to the birth<\/span><\/a> of the child. It would also remove the <\/span>\u201c<\/span>viability<\/span><\/a>\u201d<\/span> restriction from Maine\u2019s abortion law. That means more children able to survive outside of the womb would be killed by abortion at the discretion of a doctor. Also, amazingly, the bill would <\/span>decrease penalties<\/span><\/a> for abortions performed without a license<\/em>, sometimes referred to as \u201cback-alley\u201d abortions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis gives the word \u2018extreme\u2019 new meaning. It would allow the abortion of a baby up to full term, one that could survive outside the womb. That is extreme,\u201d stated Republican Senator Lisa Keim to<\/span> reporters at a press conference<\/span><\/a>\u00a0led by lawmakers opposing the bill<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
