The little girl&#8217;s mother, Alicia Sparks, said her daughter Aurora John is now, several months later, \u201cdoing really well, considering,\u201d as reported by the UK\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.southwalesargus.co.uk\/news\/23424857.premature-baby-aurora-defied-odds-following-sepsis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South Wales Argus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born on January 6 to Sparks and\u00a0Zarik John<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Aurora\u2019s birth seems a picture of miracles. At just one pound and seven ounces, the odds seemed stacked against her. Born via emergency Caesarean section\u00a0at 26 weeks, her mother explained, \u201cAfter my waters ruptured early and with efforts of trying to hold off my labour unfortunately, I contracted maternal sepsis.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Flifeissues%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02rkazqssQ3RTUd5VQ6aeUfTHbxQaswYZXu4RHWyDKg27UXHXt4SqVsTN8TJAZf95dl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"620\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/sepsis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20351214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mayo Clinic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cSepsis is a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection.\u201d Essentially, the body\u2019s mechanisms for combatting an infection do entirely the opposite; thus, a person with sepsis will have his or her organs work improperly. Mayo states, \u201cSepsis may progress to septic shock. This is a dramatic drop in blood pressure that can damage the lungs, kidneys, liver and other organs.
