A Closer Look at Clients of Four Telecontraception Companies.\u201d KFF polled 5,925 clients of four different online contraception companies \u2013 namely Nurx, The Pill Club, Twentyeight Health, and Pandia Health \u2013 on a variety of subjects related to their use of telecontraception.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KFF reported on various demographic aspects of the sample, respondents\u2019 levels of satisfaction with telecontraception services, rates of insurance coverage and usage, and other topics. Perhaps most interesting of all the subjects covered, however, were the changes in respondents\u2019 contraception usage following the Supreme Court\u2019s decision in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which overturned <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KFF states:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In response to the <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health]<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ruling, almost a quarter (24%) of respondents report that they have gotten emergency contraception to have on hand and over a fifth (22%) have considered sterilization. Twelve percent report that they have considered switching to or have started a more effective method of birth control, and eight percent have started using birth control due to the <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dobbs<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> decision.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These numbers suggest that a sizable portion of those surveyed were relying on readily available, legal abortion as at least a backup means of contraception.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/walgreens-cvs-petition\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-283198\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg\" alt=\"Walgreens CVS banner\" width=\"700\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--300x77.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--768x197.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--500x128.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/prochoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/women_who_have_abortions.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the National Abortion Federation (NAF), it is a myth that people use abortion as a method of contraception. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/health\/archive\/2016\/02\/abortion-as-birth-control\/625091\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anecdotal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and some <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/minnesota-report-repeat-abortions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statistical<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and study <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/uk-718-5-teens-six-repeat-abortions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">evidence<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has challenged this assertion and suggested that at least some people do, in fact, use abortion as birth control. KFF\u2019s telecontraception survey results lend credence to this theory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abortion advocates also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/03\/21\/health\/abortion-restriction-laws\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">postulate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that pro-life laws do not change people\u2019s behavior or likelihood to get an abortion. However, KFF\u2019s survey \u2013 in which 22% of respondents said they were considering sterilization \u2013 challenges this notion, as well, and reinforces previous data which demonstrates that pro-life laws do, in fact, change people\u2019s behavior in ways that ultimately reduce abortion rates. A 2004 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/how-the-legal-status-of-abortion-impacts-abortion-rates\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Journal of Law and Economics, for example, found:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[C]ountries where abortion is legal only to save the mother\u2019s life or for specific medical reasons have abortion rates that are only about five percent of the level in countries in which abortion is legal on request. Furthermore, the results indicated that even modest abortion restrictions have an impact.
