A shocking video that has gone viral shows a woman, whom the Daily Mail<\/a> claims to be homeless, giving birth on a San Francisco sidewalk as passersby try to assist her and her baby.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the birth took place on Geary Street, next to Union Square in the city’s Tenderloin District, which is known to be an area in which drug-addicted homeless individuals have taken up residence. The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed that a woman did give birth in “public view” on Thursday, but did not say if she was homeless. Reports claim<\/a> she had been ‘smoking crack’ before giving birth.<\/p>\n

In the short video, a man is crouched down next to the woman, who is laying on her side with her pants partially down, and her baby, who is lying on the sidewalk with a piece of fabric over him or her. As the woman tries to reach for her baby, the man tells her to “relax, the ambulance will get here.” At the end of the video, she is seen picking up and cradling her crying baby.<\/p>\n

Both mother and baby were taken to a local hospital and are said to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n
