POLITICO now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/03\/02\/walgreens-abortion-pills-00085325\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> that Walgreens has confirmed that it responded to each attorney general, assuring the AGs that it will not participate in abortion pill distribution in their respective states.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/ago.mo.gov\/docs\/default-source\/press-releases\/2023-02-01-fda-rule---walgreens-letter-danielle-gray.pdf?sfvrsn=ff1e6652_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to all 20 AGs, Danielle Gray, Executive VP of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc., verified it will not be distributing the abortion pill in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia. Not all the states prohibit distribution of the abortion pill through the mail, but many have laws requiring the abortion bill to be dispensed at a doctor\u2019s office or in person.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Great news for AR! On Feb. 7, I sent a letter to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Walgreens?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Walgreens<\/a> stating that federal &amp; state law prohibits mailing or dispensing abortion pills in AR. Today, Walgreens responded: It \u201cdoes not\u201d intend to dispense or ship abortion pills here. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/arpx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#arpx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ARnews?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ARnews<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xW0EIh0RTV\">https:\/\/t.co\/xW0EIh0RTV<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/q2Be1AtjXw\">pic.twitter.com\/q2Be1AtjXw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Attorney General Tim Griffin (@AGTimGriffin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGTimGriffin\/status\/1628859316462620675?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 23, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin confirmed on February 23 that Walgreens has told him that it has &#8220;no plans&#8221; to distribute or ship abortion pills in the state since doing so would be contrary to state law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The good news is, I just got a letter from Walgreens indicating they will not and have no plans to ship abortion pills into Arkansas. This is a victory for all Arkansans. This is a victory for life, and this is a victory for the rule of law,&#8221; he announced on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach also verified that Walgreens will not distribute in his state either, even though the Kansas state law requiring that women only obtain the pills directly from a physician is currently\u00a0<a class=\" js-tealium-tracking \" href=\"https:\/\/reproductiverights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2022-11-23-KS-Order-on-Remand.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-tracking=\"mpos=&amp;mid=&amp;lindex=&amp;lcol=\" aria-label=\"blocked in court (opens in a new window)\">blocked in court<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/walgreens-cvs-petition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-283198 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg\" alt=\"Walgreens CVS banner\" width=\"700\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--300x77.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--768x197.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--500x128.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my letter to Walgreens, we made clear that Kansas will not hesitate to enforce the laws against mailing and dispensing abortion pills, including bringing a RICO action to enforce the federal law prohibiting the mailing of abortion pills,\u201d Kobach said in a statement. \u201cEvidently, Walgreens understood that my office was serious about this.
