Why is the abortion industry purposely ignoring the U.S. Food and Drug Administration\u2019s (FDA) abortion pill regulations?\u00a0This is a question that no one except the pro-life movement seems to be interested in asking, despite the very real risks to women.<\/p>\n

This article, the first in a series, will explore the well-known fact that the abortion industry is prescribing the abortion pill regimen past the FDA’s approved 70 days (ten weeks) gestation. This regulation is one of many\u00a0being ignored by abortion industry insiders,\u00a0despite the known risks of the abortion pill regimen mifepristone and misoprostol, even when used under the strict guidelines laid out by the FDA\u2019s REMS safety system. In addition to prescribing the drugs past 70 days, the abortion\u00a0industry is instructing women to take the drugs off-label, is failing to properly date a pregnancy or rule out dangerous ectopic pregnancy before prescribing the drugs, is\u00a0spending<\/a>\u00a0little to no time at follow-up, and much more.<\/p>\n

Egregious disregard for protocol and women’s safety<\/h4>\n

While the FDA-approved limit for the chemical abortion pill regimen is 70 days (10 weeks), women are being prescribed the regimen well into the\u00a0second trimester of pregnancy<\/a>.\u00a0For example, the Orlando Women\u2019s Center abortion facility tells clients\u00a0online<\/a>, \u201cOur Family Planning Center is Offering The\u00a0One Hour Abortion Pill Procedure<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 3 to 14 Weeks.\u201d In addition to the egregious disregard for the FDA\u2019s gestational limit, there is no \u201cone hour\u201d protocol approved by the FDA.<\/p>\n

But it gets worse.<\/p>\n

The abortion chain also claimed on a\u00a0separate page<\/a>, \u201cPlease call now to be seen at one of our offices today in\u00a0Tampa\u00a0or\u00a0Orlando\u00a0where the pregnancy abortion pills procedure can be started and completed for patients who are 3 to 24 weeks in 24 hours or less in 99% of patients.\u201d<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood\u00a0states<\/a>\u00a0on its website: \u201cDepending on where you live, you may be able to\u00a0get a medication abortion up to 77\u00a0days (11\u00a0weeks) after the first day of your last period.\u201d On a\u00a0separate page<\/a>, the abortion corporation writes, \u201cYou can use\u00a0abortion pills\u00a0(also called medication abortion) up to 77 days (11 weeks) after the first day of your last period.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cedar River Clinics also\u00a0offers<\/a>\u00a0the pills through eleven weeks of pregnancy as does the\u00a0University of California San Francisco<\/a>\u00a0(UCSF). Dr. Daniel Grossman, an abortionist who has been behind multiple abortion pill-related clinical trials,\u00a0openly promotes<\/a>\u00a0use of the abortion pill through 12 weeks.<\/p>\n

Dr. Linda Prine\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0Vox News, \u201cThe pills are approved by the FDA for up to 10 weeks and by the\u00a0World Health Organization for up to 12<\/a>. Most of the time, though, they\u2019ve been used in our country under eight weeks; something like 75 percent to 80 percent of people using pills were using them under eight weeks pre-Dobbs<\/em>. But now, they\u2019re using them whenever they can get them. And sometimes that is quite a bit later.<\/strong><\/em> Sometimes it\u2019s\u00a014 weeks, 18 weeks<\/a>. And so we get calls from people completely freaked out, crying, sobbing.\u201d (emphasis added)<\/p>\n

A\u00a0systematic review<\/a>\u00a0revealed that when the abortion pill is used at 12 weeks (84 days),\u00a0the failure rate rose to about 16%, an increase of nearly 12% from the failure rate when used before the approved FDA limit of 70 days.<\/p>\n
