A recent <\/span>article<\/span><\/a> in Vox featured an interview with Linda Prine, an <\/span>abortionist<\/span><\/a> who founded the Miscarriage and Abortion Hotline. Her comments were revealing \u2013 perhaps quite a bit more so than she intended them to be.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Commenting on the changes she has seen at her hotline since the Supreme Court\u2019s decision in <\/span>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/span><\/i>, which overturned <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i>, Prine <\/span>stated<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n

[T]he difference now is that many of our callers are later in their pregnancies, because they\u2019re getting their [abortion] pills from overseas. They\u2019re ordering pills from online pharmacies, and they come sometimes with no directions. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u2026 [A]nd they\u2019re calling us scared, because they\u2019ve passed a tiny but recognizable fetus, and they are freaked out and they weren\u2019t expecting that. And it\u2019s frankly traumatizing, what people are going through, because they haven\u2019t had any anticipatory guidance that this might be happening \u2026\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Prine goes on to <\/span>admit<\/span><\/a> that, although the abortion pill is only FDA-approved for use up to <\/span>10 weeks<\/span><\/a> in pregnancy, women are taking the drug sometimes at \u201c14 weeks, 18 weeks.\u201d Prine said the hotline “get[s] calls from people completely freaked out, crying, sobbing,” alluding to the horror women feel when they see the “recognizable” bodies of their babies that they were not expecting to see.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to the abortion industry\u2019s <\/span>\u201cno-test\u201d protocol<\/span><\/a>, which eliminated important screenings to determine gestational age, women have even been <\/span>prescribed<\/span> the abortion pill as late as <\/span>30-36 weeks<\/span><\/a> into their pregnancies, resulting in disastrous and tragic consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n

ABORTION IS TRAUMATIC<\/b><\/p>\n

There are several points worth noting about Prine\u2019s statements.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First, baked right into her commentary is the admission that abortion is \u201cfrankly traumatizing.\u201d Although Prine attempts to scapegoat external circumstances for causing this trauma, her efforts fall flat. <\/span><\/p>\n

She claims the problem is that women are \u201cordering pills from online pharmacies\u201d which send the drugs \u201cwith no directions,\u201d and that women \u201chaven\u2019t had any anticipatory guidance\u201d that they may see the corpse of a recognizable human being during the abortion pill process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But this is disingenuous. Even abortion pills obtained via the \u201cnormal\u201d channels do not come with disclaimers that advise women they may see a dead, recognizable human being. The most recent <\/span>drug label<\/span><\/a> for Mifeprex, the abortion pill, certainly doesn\u2019t mention that fact. And websites for organizations which peddle the abortion pill, like <\/span>Planned Parenthood<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Carafem<\/span><\/a>, skirt the issue, too, relying on euphemisms like \u201cclumps of tissue\u201d\u00a0 and \u201cthe pregnancy\u201d to mask the reality of the experience:<\/span><\/p>\n

A RUDE AWAKENING FROM FIFTY YEARS OF LIES<\/b><\/p>\n

The language on these websites highlights another reason why Prine\u2019s attempts to shift the trauma blame border on the absurd: the abortion industry has spent the last five decades lying to the public about the humanity of the preborn. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is responsible for phrases like \u201cclumps of cells,\u201d \u201cproducts of conception,\u201d and \u201cpregnancy tissue,\u201d which insinuate that women are aborting something inconsequential. This was easier for the industry to get away with when most women were having surgical abortions and were not directly confronted with the corpses of their babies afterward. <\/span><\/p>\n

But the abortion pill is changing this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If women are surprised by what they are seeing after taking the abortion pill, it is because they have been assured by the abortion industry and its media accomplices that they are pregnant with something other than a living human being \u2013 and this lie is shattered by the horrifying reality of dead humans floating in toilets \u2014 humans with faces, fingers and toes, arms and legs… not mere clumps of cells.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE TRUTH OF ABORTION HURTS<\/b><\/p>\n

Prine <\/span>states<\/span><\/a>: \u201c[T]he trauma and the horror of the <\/span>Dobbs<\/span><\/i> decision is that people are having to go through something that they should not have to be experiencing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But <\/span>Dobbs<\/span><\/i> is not responsible for the trauma women experience when they take the abortion pill. Facing the reality that the life of a human being has been violently ended \u2013 as a consequence of what is sold to women as a medical decision \u2013 <\/span>that<\/span><\/i> is the cause of the trauma. The truth is what hurts.<\/span><\/p>\n

But people deserve to know the truth and, conversely, are not owed insulation from the consequences of their actions. Of course, the abortion industry desperately wants to preserve the web of lies it constructed over the half-century during which <\/span>Roe<\/span><\/i> mandated its legal presence in all 50 states \u2013 because that tangle of propaganda has netted it <\/span>billions<\/span><\/a> of dollars.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women who take the abortion pill are being confronted with the truth that abortion is homicide every day, however, and they are speaking up and <\/span>sharing their stories<\/span><\/a>. Truth will \u2013 always, eventually \u2013 come out. And in designing and promoting this deadly drug, the abortion industry may have inadvertently constructed the very gallows upon which it will swing.<\/span><\/p>\n
