An Illinois abortion facility known for injuring women has sent someone else to the emergency room \u2014 this time with staff walking her directly across the street in a wheelchair.<\/p>\n

According to Operation Rescue<\/a>, a staffer for the Hope Clinic for Women was spotted wheeling a woman across the street in a wheelchair to Gateway Regional Medical Center. Numerous escorts with rainbow-colored umbrellas walked alongside them.<\/p>\n

No 911 call was made, so the extent of the woman’s injury is unknown.<\/p>\n

Seven emergencies at this facility were documented in 2022, and 15 overall since 2020<\/a>. Typically, the abortion facility bypasses Gateway Regional, despite its closeness, in favor of Barnes-Jewish Hospital across the state line in St. Louis, Missouri. Barnes-Jewish is roughly 20 minutes away, as opposed to the hospital located within walking distance.<\/p>\n

In December two women were injured at Hope Clinic in just two days, and in the second 911 call, the staffer could be heard laughing<\/a>. The facility also has numerous health and safety violations<\/a>\u00a0on record.<\/p>\n

In the past, EMTs have had\u00a0issues<\/a> with getting injured women out of the abortion facility; during the COVID-19 pandemic, a woman had to be carried down the stairs on a stretcher, as the facility’s elevator was broken.<\/p>\n

Online reviews have\u00a0criticized<\/a> the facility on Yelp. “I took a 16 year old family member here,” one woman said, adding, “The male Indian M.D. who saw her was rough, insensitive, and disrespectful. He stabbed a needle forcefully into her pelvis without warning and went to great lengths to ensure her procedure was as painful as possible! He treated her like trash and was completely unapologetic about it.”<\/p>\n

Another woman said staff refused to show that the abortionist working there was properly licensed. “Why would any place make such a fuss about this simple question if they have nothing to hide? It is our legal right to see proof,” she said. “I was able to find out two of the doctors on staff (their website does not provide this) and found out that Dr. Palmer has a reprimand and fine against his license. There may be more they are hiding, but I would not trust my body and my life to this shady operation.”<\/p>\n
