{"id":284761,"date":"2023-02-02T12:29:31","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T18:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=284761"},"modified":"2023-02-02T11:37:03","modified_gmt":"2023-02-02T17:37:03","slug":"canadian-teen-dies-septic-shock-abortion-pill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/canadian-teen-dies-septic-shock-abortion-pill\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian teen dies of septic shock after taking abortion pill"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignlifecoalition.com\/clc-blog\/id\/247\/title\/abortion-pill-kills-19-year-old-canadian\">Campaign Life Coalition<\/a>)\u00a0A 19-year-old Canadian girl died after taking the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian government&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/drugs-health-products\/medeffect-canada\/adverse-reaction-database.html\">online system<\/a> that tracks adverse reactions to pharmaceutical drugs reveals that a hospital reported on July 4, 2022, that a 19-year-old female used the abortion pill Mifegymiso to kill her preborn child (read full adverse reaction report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignlifecoalition.com\/shared\/media\/editor\/file\/2022%2019-year-old-death%20by%20aboriton%20pill%281%29.png\">here<\/a>). This information was first noticed by pro-life researcher Patricia Maloney who <a href=\"https:\/\/run-with-life.blogspot.com\/2023\/01\/medical-abortion-is-fatal-for-19-year.html\">published news<\/a> about it on her blog Run With Life.<\/p>\n<p>Tragically, the teenager died of \u201cseptic shock\u201d, a known risk of the chemical abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>Product literature <a href=\"https:\/\/pdf.hres.ca\/dpd_pm\/00050659.PDF\">listed on Health Canada\u2019s website<\/a> for chemical abortion (also called RU-486) states that there is a risk of serious harm and even death to women who use it.<\/p>\n<p>Mifegymiso\u2019s product monograph states there is a \u201crisk of infection and sepsis\u201d for users. \u201cCases of serious bacterial infection, including very rare cases of fatal septic shock, have been reported following the use of Mifegymiso.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClostridium sordellii infection was observed in some women without abdominal pain or fever, that progressed rapidly to multi-organ failure and death,\u201d states the product\u2019s monograph.<\/p>\n<p class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bwq7FU7lsDY\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The abortion pill was <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150801041158\/https:\/\/www.hc-sc.gc.ca\/dhp-mps\/prodpharma\/rds-sdr\/drug-med\/rds_sdr_mifegymiso_160063-eng.php\">approved by Health Canada on July 29, 2015<\/a>, for its \u201csafety, efficacy and quality,\u201d even though Health Canada knew of its risk of causing death from septic shock, exactly what happened to this 19-year-old girl. The drug became available in 2017. Advocacy groups have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/FDALetter.pdf\">recently raised serious concerns<\/a> about its safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis girl did not deserve to die,\u201d said Jeff Gunnarson, National President of Campaign Life Coalition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe had her whole life ahead of her. Like most women her age, she may have enjoyed socializing with friends, listening to music, and exploring new interests. She may have been on an exciting new path of education and career development,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer untimely death is a tragedy that deeply affects everyone involved, including her family, friends, and community. The loss of young lives with so much potential is always devastating. It leaves behind a void that cannot be filled,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Chemical abortion, often called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/s9UfW\">medical\u201d<\/a> or \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcc-cdac.ca\/media\/position-papers\/18-Abortion-Methods-An-Overview.pdf\">medication<\/a>\u201d abortion by advocates, is the direct and intentional killing of a pre-born human being living within his or her mother typically by means of a <a href=\"https:\/\/pdf.hres.ca\/dpd_pm\/00050659.PDF\">two-drug combination<\/a> taken in the form of pills. The mother first takes a drug orally in the form of a pill called mifepristone. Mifepristone blocks progesterone in the mother\u2019s body, a naturally produced hormone that sustains and nourishes her pregnancy. This shuts down the woman&#8217;s pregnancy-sustaining mechanism, killing what <a href=\"https:\/\/pdf.hres.ca\/dpd_pm\/00050659.PDF\">product literature<\/a> refers to as a \u201cgrowing embryo.\u201d After 24-48 hours, the woman then ingests the second drug, in the form of a pill, called Misoprostol. This drug initiates powerful uterine contractions that cause the woman to bleed heavily as she expels her dead baby.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gnEHZiud8dg\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is not the first death of a woman in Canada from the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>A 26-year-old Canadian woman also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/4483338\">died in 2001<\/a> from septic shock after a chemical abortion at 10-weeks gestation during a clinical trial of the abortion protocol. The \u201cpreviously healthy woman was hospitalized because of abdominal pain, vomiting, and foul-smelling vaginal discharge,\u201d Quebec doctors stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/4483338\">2002 report<\/a> about the case. The woman\u2019s death stopped the expansion of the drug for a time.<\/p>\n<p>Campaign Life Coalition has been warning for decades that the chemical abortion pill is \u201cdangerous\u201d and must be blocked. In 2013, it unsuccessfully <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignlifecoalition.com\/hot+news\/id\/168\/hot-news&amp;type=current\">petitioned<\/a>\u00a0the then-Minister of Health Rona Ambrose to block the drug from coming to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRU-486 is a human pesticide which kills the pre-born child and harms women,\u201d said Campaign Life Coalition in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignlifecoalition.com\/press-room\/id\/162\">2015 press release<\/a> denouncing Health Canada\u2019s approval of chemical abortion. \u201cWe have fought against this drug coming into Canada since 1999 in order to safeguard the health of women and save unborn children from early deaths,\u201d added the press release.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion, feminist authors Renate Klein, Janice G. Raymond, and Lynette Dumble conclude in their 2013 book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/RU486-Misconceptions-Morals-Renate-Klein\/dp\/1875559019\"><em>RU-486: Misconceptions, Myths and Morals<\/em><\/a> that chemical abortion constitutes medical violence against women, stating that it is an \u201cunsafe, second-rate abortion method with significant problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/walgreens-cvs-petition\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-283198\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg\" alt=\"Walgreens CVS banner\" width=\"700\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--300x77.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--768x197.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--500x128.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>CLC has launched a national petition demanding that Health Canada ban this deadly human pesticide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot remain silent in the face of the tragic death of this young woman and her child,\u201d said Gunnarson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot stand idly by as more women and their preborn children are destroyed by the abortion pill.
