He&#8217;s making my son extremely nervous,&#8221; he said, explaining that his son was visibly scared. &#8220;I walk him there and tell him to stop talking to my son. He doesn&#8217;t have any permission to talk to my son. Next thing I know, he turns around and he&#8217;s talking to my son again and then you see the push.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now, finally, the Thomas More Society&#8217;s Peter Breen said the family&#8217;s harassment by the Biden administration is at an end.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we did was win a big victory for the pro-life movement against the Biden administration,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They were trying to scare pro-lifers from coming out on the sidewalks and being active. Biden, that DOJ, sent their best prosecutor, the top guy for face prosecutions from Washington, to help deal with this case in Philly and that jury, once we finally got it seated fully, took about an hour to find Mark not guilty on all charges.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1\/30\/23:<\/strong> The trial against pro-life sidewalk counselor Mark Houck came to an end today, as a jury acquitted Houck of all charges.<\/p>\n<p>Houck&#8217;s saga began on October 13, 2021, when Houck and his 12-year-old son were reaching out to women outside a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood. An abortion facility escort reportedly began harassing Houck&#8217;s son, making crude and antagonistic remarks, as Houck repeatedly instructed the escort to leave his son alone. When the escort refused, Houck allegedly pushed him away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepeatedly, Mark would tell this pro-abortion man that he did not have permission to speak to his son and please refrain from doing so. And \u2018he kept doing it and kind of came into [the son\u2019s] personal space\u2019 obscenely ridiculing his father. At this point, \u2018Mark shoved him away from his child, and the guy fell back,\u2019\u201d Houck\u2019s wife <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/fbi-raids-home-of-catholic-pro-life-speaker-author-with-guns-drawn-as-his-terrified-kids-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> LifeSiteNews last year. \u201cHe didn\u2019t have any injuries or anything, but he tried to sue Mark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Local officials arrived on the scene and chose not to arrest anyone. The escort filed a private criminal complaint, but it was thrown out when, three different times, the escort failed to appear in court. Less than a week later, the DOJ became involved. In September of 2022, Houck&#8217;s home was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fbi-raids-pro-life-traumatize-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raided<\/a> by 15-20 armed FBI agents, arresting him in front of his wife and children. The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged Houck with violating the FACE Act, and he faced up to 11 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous updates to the story came during the trial.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/walgreens-cvs-petition\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-283198\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg\" alt=\"Walgreens CVS banner\" width=\"700\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--700x180.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--300x77.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--768x197.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Keep-Abortion-Pill-Out-Of-Walgreens-CVSLAN-Horizontal--500x128.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Thomas More Society, which is representing Houck, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/bombshell-evidence-face-act-sidewalk-counselor-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pointed out<\/a> that the FACE Act specifically <em>excludes<\/em> abortion facility escorts. \u201cThe FACE Act was never intended to cover disputes between advocates on the public sidewalks outside of our nation\u2019s abortion clinics,\u201d Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President and Head of Litigation, said in a press release. \u201cThis new evidence shows clearly that Congress intended to limit the FACE Act to patients and staff working in the clinic, and not to take sides between pro-life and pro-choice counselors and escorts on the sidewalk. A video interview during the trial also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/defense-attorneys-in-mark-houck-case-bring-crucial-evidence-to-light-as-trial-nears-final-stages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly showed<\/a> that the escort violated Planned Parenthood&#8217;s own policies by engaging with Houck.<\/p>\n<p>The jury began deliberating on Friday, but was deadlocked by the end of the day. They continued to deliberate the case through Monday, before eventually returning to acquit Houck of all charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are, of course, thrilled with the outcome,\u201d Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President &amp; Head of Litigation, said in a statement. \u201cMark and his family are now free of the cloud that the Biden administration threw upon them. We took on Goliath &#8211; the full might of the United States government &#8211; and won. The jury saw through and rejected the prosecution&#8217;s discriminatory case, which was harassment from day one. This is a win for Mark and the entire pro-life movement.
