Witness for Life<\/span> Manhattan is a pro-life event<\/a> sponsored by the Archdiocese of New York which happens on the first Saturday of every month. It begins with Mass at The Basilica of St. Patrick\u2019s Old Cathedral, which is followed by a rosary procession to Planned Parenthood. The first such event of this year, however, was <\/span>disrupted<\/span><\/a> by angry abortion advocates.<\/span><\/p>\n

According<\/span><\/a> to Savannah Craven, a Students for Life activist who was in attendance, pro-abortion demonstrators were present before Mass started. But by the time it ended, their ranks had grown significantly in terms of numbers, volume, and vitriol. \u201cThe pro-abortion crowd had donned eerie Halloween masks, and some were yelling through microphones as around roughly 50 police officers milled around the hostile atmosphere,\u201d Craven related.<\/span><\/p>\n

Craven said that the walk to Planned Parenthood, which normally would take less than five minutes, took more than an hour due to the size and antics of the pro-abortion crowd, which was blocking the sidewalk. \u201cThe Virgin Mary hates you because you are disgusting,\u201d one sneered, while others chanted, \u201cThank God for abortion.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Craven, \u201c<\/span>Some\u202feven threw eggs<\/span> at Students for Life of America (SFLA) students\u202ffrom Columbia University while others <\/span>gave the middle finger<\/span><\/a> to Friar Christopher \u2018Fidelis\u2019 Moscinski, who leads the monthly procession over to the Planned Parenthood.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Yet <\/span>another<\/span><\/a> abortion supporter dressed as the Pope dragged around a baby doll from a string attached to her underwear.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is not the first time abortion advocates have clashed with pro-lifers outside of Old St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral. In September, for example, abortion advocates staged an \u201c<\/span>abortion carnival<\/span><\/a>\u201d to harass 40 Days for Life participants. Old St. Patrick\u2019s was also the site of heated <\/span>protests<\/span><\/a> following the leak of the draft opinion in <\/span>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/span><\/i>, the decision which overturned <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/span><\/i>. Some pro-abortion activists even <\/span>threatened<\/span><\/a> to burn the cathedral down in the wake of that event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
