For several years, Live Action News has researched and published the facts regarding the abortion pill along with the web of those who fund the manufacturing of the abortion pill as well as its clinical trials and studies. What has been uncovered has been nothing short of shocking: an incestuous funding trail from the investors in U.S. abortion pill manufacturers Danco Laboratories and GenBioPro<\/a>, whose own dollars have been funneled to various groups behind clinical trials and studies of the abortion pill and its purported safety and effectiveness.<\/p>\n

Such an arrangement appears to be a possible\u00a0conflict of interest<\/em>, which Investopedia notes<\/a> “occurs when a company or person has a vested interest<\/a>\u2014such as money, status, knowledge, relationships, or reputation\u2014which puts into question whether their actions, judgment, or decision-making can be unbiased.” In the cases noted above, funding appears to be funneled back and forth among abortion-friendly groups, researchers, and manufacturers \u2014\u00a0which all seek to expand abortion and all make their livelihoods from the expansion and advancement of abortion.<\/p>\n

What is even more worrisome is that these clinical trials and studies \u2014 which are, it appears, less than impartial\u00a0\u2014 are likely to have been the same trials and studies that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) relied upon in making its decision to expand abortion pill dispensing via mail order<\/a> and retail pharmacy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Disturbingly, Live Action News previously<\/a> noted that some abortion pill study authors have even been on the payroll<\/a>\u00a0of the abortion pill manufacturers themselves.<\/p>\n

The abortion pill’s investors<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From the onset<\/a>, Danco\u2019s executives, company structure, and original investors<\/a> have been shrouded in secrecy<\/a> \u2014 with the exception of a select few.<\/p>\n

In 2000, CNN wrote<\/a>, “A report in the Sept. 5 edition of the Wall Street Journal<\/a> cited company documents showing for-profit Danco and its non-profit partner, the Population Council, have received money to develop mifepristone from prominent investors such as Warren Buffett, George Soros<\/a> and the late David Packard.”<\/p>\n

The Population Council, a eugenics-based<\/a> organization\u00a0founded<\/a>\u00a0by John D. Rockefeller III, brought<\/a>\u00a0the abortion pill into the U.S. and\u00a0later<\/a>\u00a0set up<\/a>\u00a0Danco Laboratories, LLC,<\/a>\u00a0as a\u00a0sub-licensee<\/a>\u00a0of the Population Council.\u00a0Shortly after\u00a0establishing<\/a>\u00a0Danco to manufacture the pill, they set up a system through which it would also\u00a0receive<\/a>\u00a0royalties from its sales.<\/p>\n

Today, the Population Council is funded by the Gates<\/a>,\u00a0Buffett,<\/a> and Packard<\/a> Foundations, among many others<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 including the Ford, Hewlett, MacArthur, and Kellogg Foundations.<\/p>\n

Many of these names are, no doubt, familiar \u2014 but rarely have most been openly associated with the advancement of abortion. Let’s take a look at just a few…<\/p>\n

The Packard Foundation<\/em><\/strong>: In 1996, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation (a substantial donor<\/a> to Planned Parenthood<\/a>, the National Abortion Federation (NAF)<\/a>, and NARAL)<\/a>, invested $14.2 million<\/a> into Danco. The image below comes directly from a Packard report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0Packard<\/a> is now investing<\/a> millions into the abortion pill’s generic manufacturer,\u00a0GenBioPro<\/a>, Inc., which claims<\/a> to have captured a significant share of the abortion pill market. According to a previous Live Action News<\/a>\u00a0report, Packard invested approximately $2 million in 2015<\/a>, $185K in 2016,<\/a>\u00a0$100K in 2017<\/a>, $500K in 2018<\/a> and $1.5 million in 2019<\/a> \u2014\u00a0the year FDA approved<\/a> GenBioPro’s\u00a0generic status<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When the\u00a0Washington Free Beacon<\/a>\u00a0recently asked Packard about its GenBioPro investment and whether it stands to make a profit if the company increases in value, the outlet was directed to an\u00a0online statement<\/a>\u00a0detailing Packard’s investment program. This statement acknowledges that the Foundation “take[s] risks in pursuit of impact while seeking overall return of principal” so it “can recycle capital to maximize impacts over the long-term,”\u00a0the Free Beacon wrote, adding,\u00a0“The foundation declined to comment on its GenBioPro investment specifically.”<\/p>\n

The Buffett Foundation<\/strong><\/em>: The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation<\/a> was also\u00a0among<\/a> the original investors<\/a> in Danco, and according to a 2000 report in the\u00a0Washington Post<\/a>, \u201cThe Buffett Foundation\u2026 made at least $2 million in interest-free loans to the Population Council\u2026 according to tax documents filed in 1995. That money was in turn used to conduct clinical trials of RU-486 [the abortion pill].\u201d<\/p>\n

Warren Buffett’s fanaticism for abortion even led him to start a church<\/a> that referred women for illegal abortions prior to Roe v. Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n

George Soros’ Open Society Foundations<\/em><\/strong>: In 2000<\/a>, Open Society gave<\/a>\u00a0the Population Council $383,000 to support clinical trials of mifepristone (the abortion pill). According to a report<\/a> by the Congressional Research Service, “The Population Council raised $16 million from other organizations, such as the Open Society and the Kaiser Family Foundation, in order to conduct the trial and prepare the documentation necessary to receive FDA approval…”<\/p>\n

Packard and Buffett also funded<\/a> Gynuity Health Projects, and the Buffett, Packard, and Soros Foundations fund the University of California (UC). These organizations are behind multiple abortion pill clinical trials<\/a> as well as a number of studies<\/a> expanding access<\/a> to the abortion pill regimen. The Buffett<\/a> and Packard Foundations then financed\u00a0studies<\/a> used to convince the public that abortion is safe<\/a> \u2014\u00a0yet the media fails to point out this conflict of interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n
