The Kansas Department of Health released their Annual Summary of Vital Statistics<\/a> for 2021, which includes information about abortions committed in the state. Adding up the numbers of abortions committed on in-state and out-of-state residents, it equates to 21 abortions committed each day in Kansas.<\/p>\n

According to the report, there were 3,937 abortions committed on state residents in 2021, the vast majority of which took place within the state of Kansas. An additional 3,912 abortions were committed on women who traveled to Kansas from out of state. This makes a total of 7,849 abortions committed in total in 2021. This is approximately a 4% overall increase from the 7,542 abortions committed in the state in 2020<\/a> (3,901 abortions from out of state and 3,641 abortions from residents). From 2019-2020, the state saw an abortion increase of just over 9%.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the ratio of abortions to live births increased from 2020 to 2021. In 2020, there were 106.1 abortions per 1,000 live births, while in 2021, there were 113.5 per 1,000 live births, an increase of 7%. Still, the ratio has\u00a0become lower<\/a> overall in the past 20 years, with the state showing a ratio of 160.1 abortions per 1,000 live births in 2002.<\/p>\n

Most of the abortions committed in 2021 were chemical abortions, although a sizable amount \u2014 2,026 \u00a0\u2014 were first-trimester surgical abortions.<\/p>\n

Kansas recently faced criticism when it came to light that state officials were not releasing<\/a> sex abuse reports from abortionists, as required by law. For 12 years, the Kansas Department of Children and Families (DCF) did not release them, even though child sex abuse reports had increased. Additionally, reports were not even created before 2017, though the law mandating them was implemented in 2011. Within the last fiscal year alone, 56 instances of child sex abuse were reported by abortion businesses. This information likely points to a significant problem, considering how often the abortion industry has been found to have\u00a0ignored sex crimes<\/a> and returned victims to their abusers.<\/p>\n

A state constitutional amendment that would have removed abortion as a “right” was also defeated<\/a> this year in Kansas, due to massive amounts of out-of-state donations<\/a>\u00a0(including from pro-abortion billionaires) and misinformation<\/a> from the abortion industry. Though nearby states, like Texas and Oklahoma, seem poised to protect preborn lives, Kansas seems to be moving in the opposite direction, with abortion being protected and promoted instead.<\/p>\n
