(Right to Life UK<\/a>) Dr. Simon Snook, an owner of abortion clinics in New Zealand, has boasted about ending the lives of more babies through his new \u20180800 dial an abortion\u2019 service than expected, saying that in the first two weeks of its launch the new service \u201ccompletely went off\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following the\u00a0introduction<\/a>\u00a0of one of the most extreme abortion laws in the world, permitting the abortion of babies de-facto on demand up to birth, the Labour Government, led by Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern,\u00a0partnered with<\/a>\u00a0Dr Simon Snook and Family Planning New Zealand to launch a nationwide \u2018DIY\u2019 abortion scheme called \u2018Decide\u2019.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Decide\u2019 scheme allows women and girls to call a freephone \u20180800\u2019 number and have abortion drugs delivered to them or their nearest pharmacy so that they can carry out a \u2018DIY\u2019 medical abortion without in-person medical supervision.<\/p>\n

Abortion clinic owner previously worked for scandal-ridden abortion provider in the UK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr Simon Snook previously\u00a0ran<\/a>\u00a0a\u00a0now-defunct<\/a>\u00a0similar smaller local freephone abortion service called \u20180800-ABORTION\u2019. Dr Snook also\u00a0owns<\/a>\u00a0two of the three private abortion clinics that operate in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Dr Snook is the director of Istar, a company that imports abortion pills to New Zealand and\u00a0funds a website advertising abortion<\/a>\u00a0in New Zealand. The site ranks highly on Google search for vulnerable women facing a crisis pregnancy.<\/p>\n

Dr Snook previously\u00a0worked<\/a>\u00a0for Marie Stopes International (now MSI Reproductive Choices) in the UK, which has been linked to a series of scandals. This includes a\u00a0damning report<\/a>\u00a0from the UK\u2019s Care Quality Commission (CQC) that accused Marie Stopes International of paying staff bonuses for persuading women to have abortions. At all 70 Marie Stopes clinics, inspectors from the Care Quality Commission found evidence of a policy that saw staff utilise a high-pressure sales tactic, phoning women who had decided against having an abortion to offer them another appointment.<\/p>\n

At one clinic in Maidstone, staff\u00a0told CQC inspectors<\/a>\u00a0that the clinic was like a \u201ccattle market\u201d with a \u201cvery target-driven culture\u201d.<\/p>\n

State-sponsored backstreet abortions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responding to the launch of the new abortion service, New Zealand pro-life group, Voice For Life,\u00a0said<\/a>: \u201cHow is this anything other than state-sponsored back street abortion?\u201d<\/p>\n

The group also drew attention to the lack of safeguards and the potential for coercion and abuse asking \u201cWill perpetrators of abortion coercion now have a convenient mechanism which will allow them to literally stand over their pregnant female victims as they force them to order up the DIY abortion drugs over the phone?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happens when a vulnerable minor rings DECIDE asking for abortion drugs to carry out a secret abortion with no one else around?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about victims of sexual abuse who are coerced into using this service by those who have abused them, and who are seeking to hide the evidence of their repugnant acts of victimisation?\u201d the group\u00a0added<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Right To Life UK spokesperson Catherine Robinson said: \u201cBoasting about ending the lives of more babies through your abortion business is truly horrific\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018DIY\u2019 abortions do not require an in-person consultation before the abortion takes place. They could literally happen in a backstreet and there is nothing to prevent this\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy removing a routine in-person consultation that allows medical practitioners to certify gestation and recognise potential coercion or abuse, \u2018at-home\u2019 abortion has presented\u00a0serious risks<\/a>\u00a0to women and girls in abusive situations. It has\u00a0allowed\u00a0severe complications to occur, as well as abortions far later than the\u00a0gestational limit<\/a>\u00a0for these schemes, as abortion providers currently cannot ensure the pills are taken by the intended individual within the appropriate time frame.\u201d<\/p>\n
