The PSPO created a buffer zone encompassing a wide swath stretching nearly six streets. Will you join us in this life-saving work as a monthly donor today?<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: Legal action has been launched against Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council over a \u2018buffer zone\u2019 that censors free speech and makes prayer illegal outside an abortion clinic.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AzcQHeO02H\">https:\/\/t.co\/AzcQHeO02H<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Christian Concern (@CConcern) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CConcern\/status\/1598647981166792704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 2, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/christianconcern.com\/news\/bournemouth-council-challenged-over-new-buffer-zone-criminalising-prayer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christian Concern<\/a>, Livia Tossici-Bolt, the local leader of 40 Days for Life Bournemouth, is launching a legal challenge against the Council on the basis that the PSPO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-england-dorset-63834799\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was<\/a> &#8220;forced through following a questionable public consultation.&#8221; Tossici-Bolt is being represented by the Christian Legal Centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone must have the freedom to pray quietly in a public place. Everyone must have the freedom to give and to receive information. I, and my group of volunteers, would never dream of doing something that causes intimidation and harassment and I find extremely concerning that unfounded accusations of such reprehensible behaviour have been used for ideological gains to discredit genuine humanitarian endeavours,&#8221; Tossici-Bolt said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/christianconcern.com\/news\/bournemouth-council-challenged-over-new-buffer-zone-criminalising-prayer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. &#8220;We have already been intimidated out of exercising our freedom of thought and of expression, but have continued to defend these fundamental rights with a peaceful conduct.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, decried the rise of PSPO buffer zones. \u201cThe effect of the PSPO is to criminalise 40 Days\u2019 activities in Bournemouth and to create an area where no discussion of abortion or even prayer relating to abortion, is permitted,&#8221; she said. \u201cThere is no evidence whatsoever to show that anyone is being harassed outside abortion clinics. The truth is quite the opposite.
