On a recent episode<\/a> of The View, actress Anne Hathaway implied that women can’t be successful or plan their lives without the ability to kill their own preborn children and that her “own personal experience with abortion” led her to see abortion as an act of “mercy.”<\/p>\n

Abortion does not make women more capable or equal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pro-abortion co-host Joy Behar initiated the conversation by asking Hathaway about a pro-abortion tweet she had penned following the overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/em> and marking the 16th anniversary of her film “The Devil Wears Prada.”<\/p>\n

“Some 16-year-old’s life has been irrevocably changed because of the overturning of Roe v. Wade,” said Hathaway. “I played a young woman who was starting out her career. And when you are a young woman starting out your career, your reproductive destiny matters a great deal.”<\/p>\n

Hathaway’s implication is that women need abortion in order to be successful \u2014 that their careers must be built on the bodies of their dead children. This is a lie.<\/p>\n

Women are inherently equal to men and can be both mothers and careerwomen. Rather than advocating for the killing of children in order to get ahead, women should be pushing for more flexibility in the workplace, better support from their children’s fathers, equal parenting responsibilities, and supports to be implemented in the workplace such as flexible hours, breastfeeding support, onsite child care, and paid maternity and paternity leave.<\/p>\n

Children aren’t holding women back; outdated expectations of women and men are holding women back.<\/p>\n
