According<\/span><\/a> to the Catholic News Agency (CNA), Archbishop Charles Chaput of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (from 2011-2020) recently stated that Joe Biden \u201cis not in communion with the Catholic faith\u201d due to his abortion activism and that \u201cany priest who now provides Communion to the president participates in his hypocrisy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>teaching<\/span><\/a> of the Catholic Church \u2013 of which Biden claims to be a practicing and faithful member \u2013 is, and always has been, that every life is valuable and worthy of protection from the moment of conception (fertilization) and that every abortion is a grave moral evil.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, President Biden has <\/span>promoted<\/span><\/a> abortion<\/span><\/a> seemingly at <\/span>every<\/span><\/a> turn<\/span><\/a> since the <\/span>moment<\/span><\/a> he took office.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, the archbishop\u2019s comments come on the heels of President Biden\u2019s <\/span>pledge<\/span><\/a> to codify a national right to abortion if Democrats win a sufficient majority in Congress in the midterm elections to allow him to do so. \u201cHere is the promise I make to you and the American people,\u201d the President stated, \u201cthe first bill I\u2019ll send to Congress is to codify <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Along the same lines, the President also recently <\/span>indicated<\/span><\/a> his support for the establishment of a national fund to subsidize abortion-related expenses, including time off work, travel, and childcare.<\/span><\/p>\n

Archbishop Chaput made his comments on October 22nd at a <\/span>Eucharistic Symposium<\/span><\/a> in the Diocese of Arlington, where he stated, “<\/span>Mr. Biden\u2019s apostasy on the abortion issue is only the most repugnant example. He\u2019s not alone. But in a sane world, his unique public leadership would make \u2014 or should make \u2014 public consequences unavoidable.” He added, “When you freely break communion with the Church of Jesus Christ and her teachings, you can\u2019t pretend to be in communion when it\u2019s convenient. That\u2019s a form of lying. Mr. Biden is not in communion with the Catholic faith. And any priest who now provides Communion to the president participates in his hypocrisy.”<\/span><\/p>\n
