Nearly 40% (38.45%) of Planned Parenthood’s clients are \u201cBlack and Brown,\u201d according to a lawsuit filed by Nicole Moore, who once worked for Planned Parenthood as the organization\u2019s\u00a0Director of Multicultural Brand Engagement. Moore’s\u00a0lawsuit<\/a>, previously<\/a> documented by Live Action News, claimed that \u201cPlanned Parenthood\u2026 serves over 923,000 Black and brown patients per year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Part of Moore’s job was \u201cincreasing Planned Parenthood\u2019s engagement with Black and Latinx audiences\u201d while employed by Planned Parenthood from January 13, 2020, through November 2, 2021, according to the court document. It\u00a0alleged<\/a>\u00a0a \u201cstructural racism\u201d issue was prevalent at Planned Parenthood and followed\u00a0additional\u00a0accusations<\/a>\u00a0which claimed Planned Parenthood has a \u201csystemic racism\u201d problem.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit does not categorize what services Planned Parenthood provided by gender or race \u2014 and in fact, none of Planned Parenthood’s public reports publish this data. Planned Parenthood, from its founding, was based in racist eugenic philosophies; today, it continues that eugenic legacy<\/a> as the largest U.S. provider of abortions. Statistics show that communities of color account for a disproportionate number of abortions, and many in those communities believe their communities are continually\u00a0targeted<\/a>\u00a0for eugenic abortions.<\/p>\n

Should Planned Parenthood publish details of abortion, contraception, prenatal, or other services by gender and race, this could shed even more light on the proportion of services they provide to communities of color \u2014\u00a0but it is unlikely this will ever happen.<\/p>\n

Black clients<\/strong><\/p>\n

Live Action News previously<\/a> documented that Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a0political action arm<\/a>, Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPACT), openly acknowledged in a rare admission that the organization sees 400,000 clients every year from the Black community.\u00a0This represents nearly 17% of the\u00a02.4 million patients the abortion corporation\u00a0claims<\/a>\u00a0to see annually in its roughly 600 affiliate centers.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Census.gov<\/a>, \u201cIn 2020, the Black or African American alone population (41.1 million) accounted for 12.4% of all people living in the United States.\u201d The website added that, \u201cCoupled with the 5.8 million respondents who identified as Black or African American in combination with another race group, such as White or American Indian and Alaska Native, the Black or African American alone or in combination population totaled 46.9 million people (14.2% of the total population) in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n

This means that Planned Parenthood \u201cserves\u201d\u00a0less than .01% of the population of Black or African-Americans and .008% of the\u00a0population of Black or African-Americans in combination with another race<\/i><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Live Action News has previously<\/a> documented that data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) shows that\u00a0nationally,\u00a0<\/b>Black women have the highest abortion percentage, rate, and ratio.\u00a0Some believe this is by design, due to\u00a0decades of eugenic targeting<\/a>\u00a0by Planned Parenthood and others in the abortion and eugenics movement. Others claim that issues relating to equitable health care may be a contributor. Many of Planned Parenthood’s actual health care services are rapidly decreasing<\/a>, including prenatal care, while abortions are climbing. Still, while Planned Parenthood has called the accusation that \u2018abortion is Black genocide\u2019 offensive, there is good reason<\/a> to believe it is.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood prenatal services v abortion 2000 to 2020<\/p><\/div>\n

In\u00a02019<\/a>,\u00a0while the percentage of abortions among white women fell (38.7% in\u00a02018<\/a>\u00a0to 33.4% of all reported abortions in\u00a02019)<\/a>, CDC data revealed that the percentage of abortions among Black women increased over 14% (when<\/em>\u00a0comparing raw numbers of Black abortions year to year<\/em>), and increased from 33.6% of all reported abortions in\u00a02018<\/a>\u00a0to 38.4% of all reported abortions in\u00a02019<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0the highest percentage reported in several years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf staffers are dealing with anti-Blackness, retaliation, and disregard in the workplace, how can we then expect this organization to possibly deliver compassionate care to Black women who are seeking their services?\u201d Nicole Moore told\u00a0FastCompany.com<\/a>\u00a0about her lawsuit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Latino clients\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2014,\u00a0Cecile Richards, then-CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, stated<\/a> that\u00a0\u201cTwenty-three percent of the nearly three million patients a year who rely on Planned Parenthood for birth control, cancer screenings, and other preventive care are Latino, and 32 percent of our sex education participants are Latino.\u201d This would make the number of Latino clients seen by Planned Parenthood somewhere around 690,000 that year.<\/p>\n

But by 2017, the number fell, according<\/a> to the organization:\u00a0“Planned Parenthood Federation of America, a leading health care provider that serves 500,000 Latino patients each year.”<\/p>\n

This is the same number as the data provided in Moore’s lawsuit (923,000) when you deduct the number of Black clients previously mentioned (400,000), indicating that Planned Parenthood is currently seeing approximately 500,000 Latino clients annually. This represents nearly 21% of the 2.4 million clients Planned Parenthood claimed<\/a> to serve in its\u00a0most recent annual report for 2020-21<\/a>. And according to\u00a0Census.gov<\/a>, “The Hispanic or Latino population, which includes people of any race, was 62.1 million in 2020.”<\/p>\n

This means that Planned Parenthood \u201cserves\u201d\u00a0less than .01% of the Hispanic or Latino population.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2019,\u00a0white Americans made up approximately 60% of the\u00a0population<\/a>, but accounted for 33.4% of abortions, for an\u00a0estimated<\/em>\u00a0210,386 abortions in 2019. That same year, the Latino community made up 18.5% of the\u00a0population<\/a>\u00a0but accounted for 21% of abortions (an increase of 5% from the 20% recorded in 2018<\/a>), for an\u00a0estimated<\/em>\u00a0132,279 abortions in 2019.<\/p>\n

In 2019, white Americans saw a decrease in their\u00a0abortion percentage<\/em>\u00a0from recent years, while experiencing an increase in their\u00a0abortion rate<\/em>,\u00a0which was 6.6 (abortions per 1,000 women) in 2019. The white abortion ratio was 117 abortions per 1,000 live births, the CDC reported.<\/p>\n

But, among the Latino population, the CDC recorded an abortion rate of 11.7 abortions per 1,000 Latino women aged 15\u201344 years in 2019, and an abortion ratio of 170 abortions per 1,000 live births. There were 886,467 Latino births recorded in\u00a02019<\/a>,\u00a0an average of 2,429 babies born to Latino\/Hispanic mothers every day. This means that the Latino\u00a0abortion rate<\/strong>\u00a0was nearly 1.8 times\u00a0higher than white abortion rate\u00a0(11.7 v. 6.6), and the Latino\u00a0abortion ratio<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0more than 1.45 times higher\u00a0than the white abortion ratio (170 v. 117).<\/p>\n

Ironically, despite 40% of Planned Parenthood’s clientele being people of color, accusations of systemic racism within the abortion corporation from former staff persists, indicating that Planned Parenthood’s more than 100-year eugenic history continues to haunt them.<\/p>\n
