Wade,\u201d and added, &#8220;If you care about the right to choose, then you&#8217;ve got to vote.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;With your support, I&#8217;ll sign a law codifying Roe in January. Together, let&#8217;s remember who we are,&#8221; he said, setting the date for the 50th anniversary of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">decision, January 22, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The speech is consistent with Biden\u2019s longtime promises to codify <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dating back to his candidacy. In 2020, then-candidate Joe Biden released his \u201cAgenda for Women\u201d in which, as Live Action News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/biden-agenda-women-abortion-taxpayer-dollars\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he pledged to \u201cwork to codify Roe v. Wade,\u201d and that \u201chis Justice Department will do everything in its power to stop the rash of state laws that so blatantly violate Roe v. Wade.\u201d In January 2021, on the 48th anniversary of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe v. Wade, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/48th-roe-biden-codify-pro-abortion-judges\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reiterated his pledge<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u201cThe Biden-Harris Administration is committed to codifying Roe v. Wade.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/10\/18\/1129630950\/biden-abortion-codify-roe\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NPR<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> points out, to realize Biden\u2019s commitment would require the Senate either to exceed the 60-vote threshold required to overcome the filibuster, or to vote to abolish the filibuster in order to pass the law by a simple majority \u2013 something that two Democratic Senators, Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, have refused to support in the currently evenly divided Senate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jeanne Mancini, the President of March for Life, pointed to Biden\u2019s pledge as being out of step with voters. \u201cPresident Biden\u2019s desperate attempt to sway voters by pushing painful abortions is clear evidence of how out of touch he is.
