Wade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the landmark 1973 decision that had legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. And in the 100 days since the end of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at least 66 clinics across 15 states have stopped providing abortions, according to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/2022\/10\/100-days-post-roe-least-66-clinics-across-15-us-states-have-stopped-offering-abortion-care\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report indicates that 40 of the 66 clinics are still offering services other than abortion, while 26 have completely closed. The closed clinics are located in states that enacted total abortion bans post-<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the exception of Georgia, which prohibits abortion after a heartbeat is detected, though the law contains exceptions for cases of rape, incest, and medical emergencies. Will you join us in this life-saving work as a monthly donor today?<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPrior to Roe being overturned, these 15 states had 79 clinics that provided abortion care,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2022\/10\/06\/1127105378\/66-clinics-stopped-providing-abortions-in-the-100-days-since-roe-fell\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Rachel Jones, a principal research scientist at Guttmacher. \u201cWe found that 100 days later, this was down to 13.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The states include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The 14 states with total abortion bans accounted for 125,780 abortions in 2020 and 41,620 abortions were obtained in Georgia in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the report, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/local\/austin\/2022\/09\/12\/texans-out-of-state-patients-abortions-delays\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anecdotal evidence<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reveals that the closure of the facilities has resulted in women traveling to other states to obtain abortions, increasing caseload and clinic capacity. More closures are expected in the months ahead as states continue to enact abortion restrictions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGuttmacher expects that as many as 26 states are ultimately going to ban abortion. So I can say with confidence, it\u2019s going to get worse, unfortunately,\u201d Jones <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/us\/100-days-post-roe-clinics-in-14-of-15-states-have-stopped-providing-abortion-care-survey-finds\/ar-AA12EfM5\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Live Action News has reported, the overturning of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> was not the end \u2014 it is just the beginning. While the closure of the 26 abortion facilities and end of abortion at 66 marks a major step forward in the defense of the lives of our nation\u2019s preborn children, more needs to be done, even as online abortion pill businesses\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/virtual-abortion-pill-dispensaries-expanding\/\">expand<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As brick-and-mortar abortion businesses close their doors, many organizations and individuals are stepping up to the plate to ensure women receive the resources they need to not only avoid abortion, but to thrive after the birth of a child.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, Live Action News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-lifers-paid-family-leave-wisconsin\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recently reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that pro-lifers in Wisconsin \u2014 one of the 15 states where abortion businesses have closed \u2014 are advocating for paid family leave as one avenue to assist new mothers and families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The steps taken by pro-lifers in Wisconsin to enact paid family leave legislation is representative of the work the entire pro-life movement now faces in a post-<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> world.
