A recent\u00a0Yahoo! Finance<\/a> hit piece\u00a0attacking<\/a>\u00a0Heartbeat International and pro-life pregnancy help centers (PRCs) generally, conveniently failed to mention the pro-abortion bias of Equity Forward, cited by the media outlet as the source of the information provided about PRCs. The choice to exclude such important information appeared a deliberate move by Yahoo! Finance’s Senior Editor and\u00a0article author Sandra Salathe.<\/p>\n

In her article<\/a>, entitled, \u201cAmerica is facing a diaper crisis, and the anti-abortion movement is making it worse,\u201d Salathe\u2019s bias was evident immediately, referring to Heartbeat International (which\u00a0oversees<\/a>\u00a0over 3,000 pro-life pregnancy help center affiliates worldwide) as \u201canti-abortion centers (AACs),\u201d or as she put it, \u201can AAC giant.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fact is that Salathe’s own pro-abortion bias has been openly displayed in her social media accounts online.<\/p>\n

Salathe, however, chose not to provide certain information on the pro-abortion group Equity Forward.<\/p>\n

What is Equity Forward?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Equity Forward (EF) was founded in 2017 and\u00a0launched<\/a>\u00a0in 2018 with little fanfare, yet managed to warrant a\u00a0mention<\/a>\u00a0by The Hill.\u00a0 The organization’s website \u201cabout us”\u00a0page<\/a>\u00a0says, \u201cEquity Forward is an accountability organization that produces investigative research on domestic and global human rights, gender equity and sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

But EF is anything but “accountable” when it comes to disclosing its own pro-abortion bias.<\/p>\n

Equity Forward operates the website \u201cProlifeLies<\/a>.org,\u201d a misleading name whose purpose seems to be to malign pro-life organizations such as Heartbeat International as well as Live Action, among others. The website\u2019s \u201cabout us<\/a>\u201d page states, \u201cPro-Lies.org, a project of the accountability group\u00a0Equity Forward<\/a>, aims to expose the\u00a0extremist anti-abortion organizations<\/strong>\u00a0that wield influence over government and policy at the state, federal and international levels.\u201d<\/p>\n

Equity Forward<\/a>\u00a0itself is a\u00a0project<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Hopewell Fund<\/a>, which has taken an interest<\/a> in a\u00a0non-profit media start-up<\/a>\u00a0and is also financially supporting abortion facilities through an \u201cAbortion Delivery\u2019s Business Sustainability Project,\u201d\u00a0financed<\/a>\u00a0in part by these abortion supporting organizations:<\/p>\n

          A\u00a0previous<\/a>\u00a0review from Live Action News uncovered the fact that Equity Forward\u2019s Senior Advisor is a abortion activist Mary Alice Carter. Her ties to abortion have since been scrubbed by the\u00a0falsely dubbed<\/a>\u00a0\u201caccountability organization.\u201d But a\u00a02019 archived page<\/a>\u00a0reveals that Carter \u201cserved as the interim vice president for communications at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She has also worked for Physicians for Reproductive Health, the National Institute for Reproductive Health and NARAL Pro-Choice New York.”<\/p>\n

          Carter\u2019s career trajectory on her LinkedIn page<\/a> reveals that she left her position as Interim Vice President of Communications for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) in 2017 when she joined Equity Forward in its earliest phase. Her LinkedIn page states that for nearly three years (2013-2016) she served as\u00a0Senior Director of Communications for Physicians for Reproductive Health (PRH). In 2009, Carter defended “partial birth” (D&X) abortion (a violent abortion procedure during which a baby is partially delivered alive before its brain tissue is suctioned out) on\u00a0Fox\u2019s Bill O\u2019Reilly show<\/a>\u00a0as the Director of NARAL Pro-Choice New York.<\/p>\n
